I need advice from some veteran BWV owners and others. I want to stay standard view studio Mon-checking out Sat. November 29-Dec 4, 2010. This is right after Thanksgiving week-end. Due to the new booking rules, should I make the ressie for Sun-Thurs(leaving Fri) then a day later cancel Sunday and add Friday? Or just book the whole stay from Monday-Friday at one call?

I've never booked that time of year....but when booking my reservations for other times..I've always gotten the SV studio I wanted calling on the first day the booking window opened at 11 months

You should be OK in one call. It's usually the following week that is the most popular.

To be absolutely sure, I'd probably book Saturday - Saturday and then cancel the Saturday and Sunday later.

I do agree with DebbieB. The following week is the one that is really hard to book. Odds are quite good that you won't have a problem just calling on 12/29/09 to book the actual dates you want.

My problem is even with borrowing points I won't have enough to book more than 5 days standard points. My reservation will still be in tact if I cancel just Sunday, right? I'm still a little confused with the new booking rules!:confused3

Yes, your reservation would still be in tact, but if you had to borrow points to make the reservation and then drop a night, my understanding is that those points borrowed would have to be used in the then current use year...

I will have to borrow regardless. I'll have to borrow a few more points to cover the weekend increase. Well now that brings up another question. I can borrow points more than once right? I'm usually banking!:rotfl:

Yes, you can borrow more that once, I did it for my stay next month when I added on an extra day. The only concern I had is that since my UY is Sept and the trip is in Aug, the points that I borrowed would have to be used in the current UY which ends in Aug!! It made me think that if I borrow points and need to make a change, then I want to have more time in my UY to reschedule since I will not be able to move them back to the year I borrowed them from..

Yes. MS currently allows us to drop night(s) at the beginning or end of a reservation without loss of the rest of the nights.

You can only borrow when making the reservation that will use the borrowed points. So the first night(s) of your reservation should be made with current use year points and it sounds like the Friday night will be the only night with with some borrowed points.

When you drop the Sunday, the points returned will be current use year points and those will be bankable if you are still within the banking deadline.

One last confusing senario! Ok the Sun- Thur ressie I will have to borrow 5 pts. If I cancel the Sunday and add the Friday I will still need to borrow 6 more pts in addition to the previous 5 and still use the Sundays points. I just want to make sure I can borrow again. Maybe I'll just do this all at one time instead and take my chances.:headache:

Yes, you can borrow the extra 6 points. When my waitlist came through and I moved resorts, they had to borrow a few more points because BLT was higher than WL.

Just confirming - that's not going to be a problem. MS will take care of it for you.
