Booking opening day

Is there a big price difference between opening day and a few days later? Do any of the categories sell out on that opening day?

It depends on if it's a new destination or a specialty cruise. Prices can increase dramatically in less than 24 hours in some cases. Ships can even sail out within just a couple of days if it's a big ticket "item".

I've never seen that happen. I've heard it did years ago when prices started out lower, but I haven't seen it the last few years. Disney cruises are priced pretty high on opening day now. I think the secret portholes sell out pretty quickly on popular cruises. It's basically a room priced as an inside that has a porthole. The Cat 5E's on the Dream and Fantasy are pretty popular, but I don't think they sell out that fast. Prices will go up on popular cruises, but it seems to take a while. The British Isles was pretty popular on opening day, but it's only gone up a couple hundred dollars since I put hold on it back in Feb . I just booked the Sept Alaska cruise for this year. It's still at opening day prices so it just depends.

Some cruises don't change price for several months. Others change after several weeks. Only very, very few change within days of opening day.

For that one it looks like this year's didn't go up for the first week or so according to http://www.cruisefish.net - after that some went up ~$50pp and then it was a slow creep over the month as cats sold out.

TBH the only time I worry is if it's a brand new sailing that has never been done before/is very rare (Bermuda might go up quicker than others) or if I want a specific cabin.
