Our 7 month mark is in Sept. we already booked at akv our home resort for back up. At 7 months can I still book our room for BWV (if we can get in) online considering we already have akv booked? Does it cancel akv automatically?

Only the wait list option will replace a reservation automatically. If you call, MS can do this, but online you can't.

So at 7 months I need to call to make the reservation?

If you try to do it on-line, you would need to cancel your existing reservation to free up the points (unless you have enough points to cover both) to make the second reservation if it's available.

If there is availability, MS can modify the reservation without needing to cancel the existing reservation, thus making the process easier.

I dont have enough pts to cover both. I think Inwill cancel my akv reissue to free up the pts the day before I book.

That creates risk of not getting BWV and losing what you already have. Better solution is to call at 9 a.m. 7 months out from date of arrival and see if you can get BWV and thus change the reservation over the phone. If you think about it, why bother to even have your AKV reservation even now if your intent is to cancel it before 7 month window opens. You have that reservation to assure you have a place a stay if at 7 months out you cannot switch.

I wouldn't do that. If you cancel the day ahead, there was no benefit to booking at the 11 month window. I'd call MS at the 7 month window and take care of it.

We are worried about not getting a HA room at BWV bc we know there are few which is why i want to call at 7. At the time we booked 11 mos out. AKV was actually our choice.. We want BWV. BCV or WLV but weneed the HA room.

Someone said that they succeeded to keep two open windows and cancel / make a reservation at the same time.

VERY IMPORTANT: I am not sure that it still works. Maybe it was a glitch and fixed since last time that member posted his success .
So before attempting to do what I write below, it's better if you try to book a night and then test the procedure (if you have the points to do so without borrowing). I haven't tried this myself.

Here how to do:

1) open two different Internet browsers (let's say Chrome and Firefox). They must be different because you want to keep the two session separate. Login into member site in both browsers

2) In Chrome look for your reservation

3) In Firefox go to book the new vacation, search dates, room type and resort. In the result page, click "Select this resort" to start the booking process

4) Now the room will be kept for you for a few minutes in order to allow you to enter all data needed. It will not be available to other members during that timeframe. If you don't finish the reservation it will go back to general availability

5) Switch to Chrome and cancel your reservation

6) Switch to Firefox and refresh the page, you'll see the points back in your account. Now you can finish your reservation

If you use the day before as your check-in date, you can see if there is availability before you cancel your other reservation. There's still a chance you could lose it during the time in between but at least you know if there are already nights booked.

Do not risk it, I would call. There is nothing wrong with calling. We have always had great experience with member services. Please Call!

What I do iis call while being logged in, let MS handle everything but I make sure before hanging up that I can see the new reservation online.

That works well: as soon as the lady tells me that the transaction is completed I go to the upcoming vacation page in the vacation center and can see immediately my new travel arrangements. I also check my new point balance and it is also immediately updated.

In fact last time what I wanted could only be done over the phone: I was switching from a 1BR OKW villa to 2 AKV SV studios. There is no way I could even check availability for two studios at the same time. MS were able to block the two studios before cancelling my OKW reservation.

The only problem with calling is that MS open one hour after online booking, so for a very limited room type it can make a difference.
