I've been trying to book a room only offer for my February 2013 trip, thinking it's easier to add the tickets and the DDP offer when it becomes available in July than to wait till then and be surprised with no rooms available at POFQ. Problem is, even when I choose the hotel only option and input my dates, the system tells me I the dates need to be till December 31st 2011. So what gives? Will I have to call Disney to book room only?

You can't book packages or book online until the 2013 rates are released, so you would have to call to book just the room now. You will be quoted the highest rate for 2012 with a required deposit of 1 night's room rate + tax, and then your reservation will be adjusted once the 2013 rates are released, which should be sometime this summer. August is usually when new rates come out, but the 2012 rates came out in early June of last year. Keep in mind that if you book room only now and want to change to a package later, that the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded, and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit as money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other.

When you say highest rate do you mean the highest rate overall or does it take into consideration it's an off-season rate?

I'm afraid to wait till the rates are released for next year and all the rooms of POFQ will be sold out. Am I wrong?

You will initially be charged the peak/holiday rate at booking. Keep in mind, though, that once the new rates come out, your reservation will be adjusted to reflect the correct rate/pricing season. The only thing is you will be paying a higher deposit as the deposit will equal 1 night's room rate + tax at the time of booking, which will be peak/holiday rate for the resort you choose. If you feel better having something booked right now, then I would go ahead and book. But with that said, I don't think you will have any trouble waiting until the rates are released to get what you want.

Historically, Disney releases new rates in August. Last year, they released them a little early in mid-July.
