If you are on DCL's website checking dates, availability, etc. and see there are only categories 7, 6, 4 available for your preferred sailing date, is that the final word on this trip, meaning if you call DCL you can't get category 10 or 11? Didn't know if DCL "waitlisted" folks on categories or not. Also, I've never seen a Category 12 stateroom listed on DCL's website for availability, do they still exist? If so, how do you reserve them? Thanks in advance for all of your answers! Pidge :)

As DCL's inventory can change minute to minute...I would check things online and then give them a call for the most up-to-date info.

I have been on the phone with them before when a cateogory that was sold out opened up while we were still talking.

1) I'm pretty sure that you can be waitlisted with DCL

2) If you don't see your preferred category on the date you want, I think it's definitely worth a call. Someone could have "just" cancelled and then you'd be in a position to grab it.

3) Realize that certain travel agencies have reserved blocks of rooms so that if you are unable to get a room directly with DCL then you may have better luck working through a TA.

4) Never seen cat 12 listed on the DCL site either. There are only like 6 rooms in that category and I imagine they fill up quite fast (with the hope of being upgraded)

I was checking the Thanksgiving, 2005 cruise last night. Expedia showed cat 6 as GTY only. I figured I would have better luck looking directly at the DCL site, but DCL showed NO availability in cat 6. Interesting.
