Booking Online - How does it work

So I keep reading about the 11 month window at 8 am to book what you want. Was hoping someone could help me understand how it all works on the booking site? Can you hold rooms while you are completing your reservation? Can you nail something only to be too slow to “checkout” and have it taken out from under you?

I’m at the 30 day wait period to actually see my points show up so I’m just antsy to know how it all works!

Once you select the room that is available that you'd like to book you are supposed to have 20 minutes to finish the booking. If you were ever concerned you could book with just the first name on the reservation and finish and then go back in to modify and add the remainder of the guests.

And you only book one at a time. If you want multiple units, it is sequential, not simultaneous.

You put in your specifications for the reservation you want.

You have the program search for it. It will pop up with the information you have searched for. For instance, it will say, "Animal Kingdom - Kidani" and underneath that it will list the regular or prefered views that are available for the type of units you specified, and the dates.

You click on one of the categories that is available, for instance, 2 Bedroom, Savannah View. Now it will expand to display the calendar showing the dates you requested, IF it is available, and the number of points that requires. Below that is a button that says CONTINUE.

Once you click on this CONTINUE button, THIS is where it will lock out other people and it will say, "You are almost there,' and will bring up the screen to "Select Your Contracts" if you have more than one contract available in that membership, OR, it will take you directly to the screen where you enter Guest Information. AT THIS POINT, (on this screen) YOUR RESERVATION IS LOCKED TO OTHER PEOPLE, AND YOU WILL HAVE 20 MINUTES TO FINALIZE IT.

Keep filling out information and keep stepping on through until it Confirms your Reservation and gives you a Confirmed Reservation number.

Wow thank you all! Good to have a general sense of the process heading in. We are going to try and book July 4th at copper creek and expect to literally be right on he cusp of getting the account...so won’t be much time for trial and error!

You should practice a few times. Go all the way through, making reservations (just use ONLY your own name when you practice, to save time) but don't complete the last step. When it gets to the page where you need to check the little box st the bottom, indicating you have read the contract, AND then you click to CONFIRM the Reservation. That is the last step. Just don't do the last step. Of course, even if you did the last step, you could always just cancel it. AS LONG AS YOU ARE MAKING THE 'PRACTICE RESERVATION' MORE THAN A MONTH OUT, so that you don't generate Holding Points, and, also, you want to make sure you don't BORROW points to do the practice, unless you were going to borrow them anyway/
