Booking onboard for 2007

We want to book on board for 2007. As I understand it , we can book for Dec 2006 and then transfer when 2007 dates come out. Is this right?
Can we transfer this to a TA now or do we have to wait till when the rates come out? Thanks

We rebooked for Dec. 2006 onboard our recent Jan. 22 Magic vacation. We want to sail in Jan. 2007---but as you know the dates have not yet been released. The rebooking lady ( I can't remember her name) assured us that we would be able to transfer the ressie to Jan. 2007 when the dates came out (probably around August or September 2005). She asked us if we wanted to transfer the ressie to Dreams Unlimited (that is who we booked our Jan. 22, 2005 trip with) right then. We told her that would be fine. We got the $200 stateroom credit and the 10% off from DIsney. A few weeks after we got home we received an email from DU stating that they had been notified that we rebooked onboard and that the ressie had been transferred to them. DU also gave us their $75 discount.

Both the rebooking lady and DU told us that the discounts and stateroom credit would be applied to our new sail date when we transfered the ressie to Jan. 2007. I am curious to see how it will all work out.

Yes, you can book 2006 now and transfer later without any trouble. You could move the reservation to the TA now, it shouldn't matter who holds the reservation although I have done this in the past and asked myself, "why did I bother?" In reality, you book the reservation so unless there is a huge discount to move it I wouldn't bother.

The rates for 2006 came out on September 29th, 2004 so it is probably going to be 6 months before you pick a date in 2007.

We booked for 12/06, and will transfer ressie to Feb 07 when the rates are out--and keep the on-board booking perks. Stephanie was the DCL rep we booked with on board. She also asked us if we wanted to transfer our ressie to DU (used for our last cruise), but we didn't beacuse we thought we would not get a discount from DU because it was not on their website. 1princessesmom, how did that work for you? I am not sure whether to transfer because another TA may come out with a better discount (any little bit helps).

We did not do anything special to get the $75 discount from DU. I think they offer this deal MOST of the time. When we got the email stating that Disney had transferred the ressie to DU, the $75 credit was added (by DU). I just checked their website, and the are still offering the rebate.

Two thoughts come to mind.

1. Think of all the staterooms that will open up in Dec 2006 when the 2007 reservations open up...and everybody moves out of Dec 2006.

2. I told my husband we had to cruise in Sept this year (we booked a three day)...just so we could book on board for 2007 and get the earliest rates......and he bought it! (maybe he wanted the 3 day cruise too??)

When rebooking on board can you book a three day and then change it later to a 7 day and still take advantage of the savings? Sorry to jump on your thread with my own question salbythec!!!

Thanks for all replys! I was thinking that it would be easier to have a TA do the booking for me when it opened up. We want to do the 7 day eastern, and I am hoping to get a secret navigator again. But I guess it might make sense to do it with DCL wihen the rates open up and then check prices with different TA's and then switch.

Is there a max? If I rebook I might not be able to afford it for 2-3 years, I want to get some quality time in at Disney world in between cruises...

When we rebooked on board, the biggest offer was for the 7 night, and since that is what we want to do in '07, that's what we booked. We were told by Stephanie (DCL) that we could postpone as many times as we want, and still get the same discount and room credit. The only stipulations are that we have to postpone the cruise before the 75 day cancellation date (each time), and it has to be a seven night carribean cruise (If they came out with a Hawaii cruise, for example, we could not switch). We were very specific about this question because we are not sure if we can afford to go in 2007, and may need to postpone two times.
