Hello. We are off in two weeks on our next cruise. I have read that Disney took away the on board credits when booking a future cruise. But they still give the 10% off future cruise.

Just me and DH this cruise. How many rooms can I book if we are booking a future cruise say to do Alaska in 2021? Those aren’t out yet so I’d have to do a placeholder correct? Do I only get to book two placeholders? I’d like to book three rooms for different family members who’d like to go on the Alaska cruise with us in 2021. If I did have an actual cruise say in 2020 can I book more than two rooms?
Also have a son who will be looking to do a honeymoon cruise possibly in 2020. I can’t book for them without one is us taking a cruise correct? Lol. I don’t think they want us in the cruise with them but maybe I could talk them into it!!😜
Any strategies I should use to get the best options and number of rooms for future cruise? Thanks for any help.

Yes, for the onboard booking perks (well, perk) you can only book two rooms. That said, you can book a third room, but it won't get the discount.

A little further clarification - each separate household ADDRESS may book up to 2 placeholders/rooms.

I'm not sure how booking for others not on the current cruise works, but I've read that people can do it. Not sure if they would qualify for the onboard booking perks, though.

As PP says, you can book 2 placeholders (staterooms) for 1 future cruise date. So you can use these for yourself and one other for Alaska.

If you cruise again in 2020, you may book another 2 placeholders (staterooms) for 1 future cruise date. You may do one of these for the 3rd party going on the Alaska cruise. And if you don't have a 4th party going on that cruise I guess you don't need to make 2.

You could book a cruise in your son's name for his honeymoon, but that would have to be instead of the 3rd party on the Alaska cruise. You can only book (with discount) for 1 future cruise date.

Enjoy your cruises!

Ok. So most likely we will cruise again in 2020. So could I book a placeholder for me and hubby in one stateroom and then book a placeholder for my son and fiancé who would be on a different cruise date?

Yes, if the cruise you want isn't yet available for booking, you can book a placeholder and convert it to a specific cruise by calling your travel agent (if you used one for your upcoming cruise and choose to use the same agent) or Disney Cruise (if you didn't use an agent) when booking for that cruise opens.

If the cruise you want to book is already available for booking, there is no advantage to booking a placeholder, since the fare for the cruise won't be set until you choose the specific cruise.

The rules about how many placeholders can be booked with the onboard booking discount are the same as the rules for booking specific cruises -- the two staterooms you book onboard during a single cruise must be on the same cruise. You can book a cruise for you and your husband on your cruise in 2 weeks, and then book a cruise for your son on your next cruise. You can't get the onboard booking discount for cruises for 2 different dates that are booked at the same time.

No, when you book two placeholders (or rooms) they both must be on the same future cruise to both get the onboard booking perks.

Ok thank you all. Two more questions...
1) if I book two placeholder cabins do I place the second placeholder in my sons name or does each room have to have a current cruisers name ( if it helps my sons household address is the same as ours).
2) if we can book my son their own cabin we’d still have to book the same future cruise right? But what if we cancel that cruise can they still keep it?

You can book the second room in whoever’s name you wish - you don’t have to put you in one cabin and your husband in another.

Yes, both rooms have to be booked on the same future cruise to keep the benefits. If you were to cancel your room, the other would lose the benefits, but if they decided not to sail, you would still get to keep the benefits for your room. You can move to a different sail date, but for both rooms to keep the benefits, it would have to be for the same sailing.

Ok great thank you! One last question ... if we put both placeholder in each of our names this will allow us to offer the room to another couple/family when we pick a cruise. We can change the names later when we book the actual cruise right?

The name of an adult listed on the original booking must remain on that booking to keep the benefits. If you aren't sure who is going to sail, put additional names on the booking. Alternatively, if you know that the two of you will definitely sail, split yourselves between the two rooms. This way, you can change your son's name to another person's as long as one of you remain in each room.
