We are sailing on the Dream in July and want to book on board for Alaska next summer. Am I correct in thinking we get a discount for booking on board and can then transfer our reservation to our travel agent and get their credit also? Does anyone know the percentage off for booking on board?
Thanks:goodvibes

I believe it's 10% and I believe you can do as you're asking.

HTH

ps/no discount if you're booking for a suite.

Advise the onboard booking agent that you'd like to book through your travel agent. They can book through your preferred agency and agent right there.

If you don't do it at that time, your travel agent won't be listed and you'll have to transfer the reservation into the agency. Because Disney Cruise Line has changed how they pay commission to travel agents with reservations that have been transferred into the agency, most agencies will either not give ship board credit, or modify the credit to less than it would be if you booked through the agency directly. :)

Another tip - if you know you want to rebook - get to the rebooking desk early. The longer you wait, the busier it gets and the longer you may have to wait to rebook. I usually rebook the first or second night I'm onboard.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

Is it also true that you can change your booking in the future w/out penalty. For example, if I book the Dream for next year and decide we actually want to go in 2013 can I push it back or am I obligated to keep my original booking?

Aanother question about rebooking. Do they charge the deposit to your room charge?

Supposedly yes, but I had a problem when 2012 Western/Eastern sailings opened up. I had an onboard booking, and my sister had a friends/family discount for the same sailing as us. It was booked onboard in 2009. We wanted to sail this year, but of course the Magic went to Europe, so we pushed it back. We continually moved the dates on both reservations without a problem.

Until we were finally able to book the cruise we wanted. My reservation (with the 10% off and SBC) transferred to the new date on the Fantasy just fine. My sister's reservation lost the $200 SBC and 50% off deposit.

At first, they tried to tell me the SBC for my sister wasn't valid because it was the Fantasy's maiden voyage. (Our sail date is August 11th). So I immediately called them out on that one. Then they tried telling me it was because discounts weren't valid on the new ships. I called them out on that one, since my 10% off and SBC were still on my reservation. That's when she ran out of things to say and told me she'd have to research it further.

It took about a week for them to finally come back with the answer that the $200 SBC would stand. The 50% off deposit was lost and they wouldn't reinstate it. Not a huge deal - but it was booked with only one guest at the time. It cost her quite a bit at once to add the rest of her family. Like I said - that's not a huge deal. I'm sure this was a fluke (especially since it wasn't the 10% off/SBC offer) - but just wanted to put it out there.

Aanother question about rebooking. Do they charge the deposit to your room charge?

This I'm not sure about. We charged it right to our credit card - which was the one listed for the room folio, anyway.
