No flames, please...just a simple, honest question here.
There are people rushing to book now because of the free dining that do not know if they will even be able to go to WDW for the time they are booking. Because the number of rooms available with this offer is limited, here is my question...
What happens if they do cancel? Are those "slots" just lost? If so, doesn't that mean that people who know they will be able to go could be losing out on the free dining because of people booking on a whim with no idea if they can go or not?

Good question....I would think that if they cancel early enough that the slots will be back up for grabs and yes it also means that people that already are going for sure could certainly miss out because of people booking that may likely cancel. Just the way it goes though I guess. It's just like people making multiple ADRS that they aren't going to use. Oh well....let's hope there is enough to go around.

If Disney wants to fill X rooms during this promo, it seems to me that it would be silly to refuse to give the discount to someone if it is cancelled by someone else. Disney is a business, and since this is a promo that seems to have worked for them last year, that they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot by refusing to re-book the room at the special price.

Like Palendat said, it's a business. Just think how many people opened Visa accounts in the last few days. :rolleyes2 Do you know what that does to your credit rating, whether you use it or not? Not really a good idea on a whim. We were going in Sept. anyway, so this is an added bonus. (Not really, it's just DD13 & me, we would never have eaten as much as the dining plan covers.) I'm sure they will fill the slots and maybe 'open' a few more if necessary.

Just my humble opinion, but it just is not right for people to book on a whim knowing full well they may not be able to go and possibly causing others to lose out on the free dining plan. :sad2:

C'mon - the reason Disney puts out these types of packages is to give people an incentive to book during a time of the year they may not normally go! They are trying to get people to "book on a whim"! And I'm sure most people who are booking are going to try their hardest to get there! And people holding a Disney VISA are the perfect target market as they have already proven to the powers that be at Disney that they LOVE Disney and would be most susceptible to taking them up on this promotion!

But, you know what, even with the best intentions, things come up - people's job situations change, kid's have school obligations, it's hurricane season, people get sick, etc. etc. etc. Who the heck would plop down a big chunk of money on a deposit if they really had no intention of going? If you really want to go during the promotion and you don't have a Disney VISA, then get on the phone early in the a.m. on April 4th and book your trip! OR, if you like the incentives you get with the Disney VISA, then apply for the card. Ok - ready for the flame - I can't believe people are actually whining about Disney putting out a promotion!!! Give me a break!

i'm going to guess the same thing happened last year when the free dining was announced... then as the 45 day window came close, people cancelled... and disney extended the booking period... makes ya wonder if they were re-filling those "slots"

Not all that much as long as you have great cerdit. In fact, because of changes to the way credit scores are calculated, it can even HELP in some circumstances, bizarre though that is! It's because now the ration of used credit to available credit is a more important factor, so by increasing the amount of credit you have available, you've decreased the ration of "used/available credit.

I am NOT suggesting that this is a good strategy, by the way -- just that it's a peverse result of credit scoring reality these days.

YMMV, Jackie
