So I just called about a CR Garden wing standard view room for next August. They quoted me a rate of about $400 per night. That seems crazy because that room is $270 this year. The guys didn't seem to know everything, but he said that they do tend to overestimate next year's prices until they're released and he speculated that since next year's seasons haven't been released yet, that maybe they're quoting me peak rates, even though it should end up being value season. Anybody have any experience with this?

Yea I was quoted 546.00 for the AKL concerige for next sept and it is only 335.00 and the girl said that is alittle on the high side.

It has been said if you book for next year when the rates have not been announced, WDW will charge you the highest price and when the new rates come out they will change it to the season you will be staying there.

Well if that's the case, that bodes well for next years prices. $400 minus tax works out to about $360 per night. The peak season rate for a garden wing standard view for this year is $350, so that means they're predicting a $10 increase at most? So based on that, I'd expect my room would be $280. I'm fine with that. Now, to wait for an AAA rate . . .

I wouldn't put much stock in that math. They are really just charging you this year's highest rate for the room you've chosen (in my case, the holiday rate for Poly concierge), and they'll adjust when the rates come out. To the best of my understanding, there is no "estimate" built in to the rate you get now, so I wouldn't try and guess about the increase. On average, there is a small percentage increase each year. Personally, I'm more concerned that the seasons/weekends/holiday rates don't move around too much.

Well in my case they charged less than the holiday rate, so go figure. Hopefully the 2009 rates will come out soon and I'll know for sure. But, and just pure speculation here, it wouldn't surprise me if they waited as long as possible before setting the rates, because the economy is so uncertain.

I booked a Poly Garden View room for 7 nights for February 2009. The deposit amount they charged me was $523.13 - which equates to 2008 peak season - not holiday season.

I hope this helps.

When I made my ressie for WL in January 2009 they told me the rates for '09 will be out in August.

I booked today, also for February, (CBR preferred for 4 nights) and was charged peak season, rack rates. The CM told me the rate would be adjusted when they announce what 2009's value/peak rates are. My deposit was $241.
