Booking Info for The Villas at Disneyland Hotel!

Why, as a CA resident, did you need to use a CA broker, when you were already working with a FL broker? And more importantly, how?

I've been a broker (licensed in IL) for almost 20 years, and have never heard about something like that. A broker has to be licensed in the state to sell property in that state; otherwise, they can collect a referral fee from the referring (i.e., out-of-state) broker.
I was told specifically that my current guide, who is not licensed in California, could not sell me any product anywhere until he was licensed in California. I was transferred to a California-licensed guide. Don't know what else to tell you, unless he was just tired of making easy money, and it didn't matter to me who sold it, so I didn't pursue it any further. The guide I was transferred to confirmed the why and what for.

Different states can have different laws…for instance, in SC, (where we live), when we bought DHHIR - we were REQUIRED to pay for a SC lawyer as part of our closing…

Well, you said that because you lived in CA you had to use a CA-licensed broker to add on to your BRV (FL) contract. That made no sense.

Yes, that is what I said and what was told to me by DVC. By "anywhere" I meant here (CA), FL, SC or HI.

My (now former) guide had previously sold me several WDW contracts (SSR) even though I live in California. When I reached out to him this past December, he told me because I live in California, and he isn't licensed here, that he could not sell me another WDW contract, and that he would have to hand me off to a California-licensed agent to sell me the WDW contract. That California agent confirmed to me that mt former guide could not sell me the contract due to my state of residency, and proceeded to sell me the WDW contract that me previous guide could not.

The State of California might have different legal issues to protect the consumer . I think the cancel clause is even different in Ca vs Florida…

No offense intended to real estate agents .
Maybe California has reason to have this power to oversee the legalities.

Possibly. I do know that the Florida guides are all having to get licensed here now (I even heard that from a guide who's usually on the cruise ships but was helping out at VGF last week), whereas it doesn't seem to have been an issue with VGC.
