After being inspired by the 50,000 SW points thread, I started playing around on SW site and seeing how much our flights would cost if we didn't have points...and see that you can save by booking your hotel with Southwest. We want to go to San Diego and stay at The Dana, so I put that hotel in. It says save 35% on your stay! I think great because it's kind of expensive! It has to fall between 1/10/13 and 1/1/14, minimum stay 1 night.
So I put in 6/3 and it shows Standard room regular $271, my price $176 plus tax. Which is 35% off of $271. But that's funny because on The Dana's website, a standard room on 6/3 is $149 plus tax. Hardly a deal!
They have a Best Rate guarantee in which they will refund to match the price you find elsewhere for the same room, but I'd rather just book with the hotel if that is the case.
Am I missing something or doing it wrong? Have you booked a hotel on Southwest and saved money?
