Booking Hoop Dee Doo- A Few Questions

Hey Guys... We went to the Hoop Dee Doo a few years back and loved it... We had tier 1 seating and the table was terrific...

We are going again on our next trip... That is for sure... We are likely getting the Deluxe Dining Plan because we are going to be there for 10 or 11 days... I have some questions about booking the Hoop Dee Doo because a travel agent did it for us the first time we went and we paid for the "tickets" with cash almost seven months before the show....

If you use the dining plan, I know it is 2 credits and we can only use tier 2 or 3 because we will be going to a 5:00 show... What I don't know is....

1) Can you still book up to a year in advance or is it now the 180 rule?
2) Is it still first come first serve on the best tables?
3) Can you request a specific table or area when you call? I think we would want balcony center if we are in tier 2
4) How bad is the view from tier 2 and tier 3 tables? We had a great view with tier 1 and I am worried the kids will have some trouble seeing
5) Where do you like to sit in tier 2 or 3?

I know it is a lot of questions... Thanks to any one that can help

I do know the seats are assigned so there is no need to get there way ahead... 15 to 20 minutes before is fine.... We went around 30 minutes before last time just so the kids could go on the pony ride before we went in (ponys are right near PH).... There was a long line of people waiting to get in....I don't know why... I guess they were all in a rush to get to their tables...But there is no real reason to get there early besides wanting to be first in the door.

We made Hoop Dee Doo ADR's very early, but had to change our trip at the last minute. For our new dates, we could only get 9:30 seating in the least desirable seating category. I was worried, but it was fine. We were at the very back of the hall (the balcony wasn't open that night) but our table was raised and we were sitting on high stools with backs. We could see everything, and the actors came back to where we were and interacted with us. Our kids had a blast. Maybe it would have been even better if we were sitting closer to the stage, but when it was over we were the first ones out the door! It was definitely worth 2TS. Tips were covered as was beer or wine. It was all-you-can eat and the food was very good. I am VERY glad we listened to our friends who said that was a not-to-be-missed thing.

Time yourself correctly. You can get your tickets at any of the Guest Services or Concierge. If you are staying at a Disney resort other than CR and WL the easiest way to get there is taking the bus to MK and then taking the launch to FW (please note it will stop at WL before proceeding to FW). Its just a short walk from the dock to Pioneer Hall. What we do is check in (the CM holding the clipboard) if I remember correctly they give you a slip of paper to hand to the person that will be seating you. 1 time we checked in and then stood in "line". Last time we wandered around (not too far and pictures are not free, we avoid them altogether) and when the line thinned we went in. Worked great for us. My big concern is the how long you wait for the launch. If you just miss it it might be up to 30 mins before the next one. Also another great thing is the 7 show and the 9 show have Disney buses waiting to take you back to your Disney Resort. Love that. So much better than waiting for the launches and then finding your resort bus from MK.

Well, I found the answer to one question... 180 day rule does now apply to the HDD... Likely going to call to get answers to the rest... I will keep the rest of you posted.

we went in Dec 07 on the dining plan and were sat center balcony tier 2. we loved it! the view was great and the reheaded girl even came up to our table to talk with us.
we were at the late show and afterwards took the bus back to WL, but had to wait for over a half hour for it

That is where we would like to sit as well... Did you request those seats or were you just lucky? Also, did you pay for your seat before hand or did you use the dining plan?

no, we didn't request it...in fact we originaly booked tier 3, and called back a couple months later to change to tier 2 and were told there was none available...then the night we got there that is where we got sat. there was only one other couple upstairs, next to our table as you can see behind my son. all of the other tables upstairs were empty ..downstairs was full. but we loved our seats and the show (which my husband and son were leery of doing) and my husband still talks about how surprised he was that he liked it so much.

Hmmm....not to mention I really wanted to sit closer. I only hope that my little boy's b'day dinner will still be good since we will be in nosebleed. Anyone who has sat in Cat. 3 seats...how was it?? Will a short little boy be able to see/hear everything going on??

I am wondering if you said that you will have the dining plan but you are planning to pay OOP what they would have said.... I am thinking of using the dining plan but I really am not sure... So if I said I plan to use cash would we likely get Cat. 2 instead of 3...

I am not sure of this because we went twice and both times we paid with a credit card at the time we booked.... Wondering if that is the way to go instead of using 2 credits....

Just a thoughts... Anyone have a clue
