Do I need to book day by day for a one bedroom or could I wait and do it all at once?

Thanks!

For a one bedroom I would say yes... I beleive HHI is mostly 2 bedrooms.

We are trying for a 2 bedroom in mid to late June and I will be calling day by day, but I am wacky crazy Goofy. ::yes::

It is very difficult to get 1bdroom at HHI at 7 months unless you are very flexible or willing to spend the extra points for a fri or sat. It is a little easire if you want 2bdroom. We were able to get 3 nights in July at 7 months for 2003, but when we tried for 2004 we could get a mon and wed only on points so we paid for tues cash($119). We eventually decided to go to Williamsburg for the whole week instead. If you are flexible, you may get it without day by day. I would call the first day and ask how booked they are for the days you want and make your decision then. We love this resort and had been 5 times over the holidays before we did summer. We added on points to our 210 at OKW just to have some 11 month points there!

I would book any HH summer unit day by day.

Thanks everyone. If I have to waitlist can I just say any three nights in late June or July during the week? Or do I have to waitlist for specific dates?

I think your waitlist can be non-specific. You should be able to request "3 consecutive weekdays" in July. Good luck!! HH is the best DVC resort.

I suggest wait listing day-by-day.

And hang in there. My experience is that you'll get the days you want, though you may not hear until the spring.

This made me wonder if there was a poll out there of people who book only for "insurance dates" knowing in advance its unlikely they will use those dates, bu tthat it is better to have something than nothing. Summer is a time for this, in my opinion. SO many people on vacation and things change all the time, jobs, school, health, other opportunities, etc.

Anyway, get on the wait list, give them all your preferences and wait for your call. You'll be glad you did. HHI is our "home" and, IMO, by far the nicest of the vacation homes.

Enjoy!

Im shooting for a GV or 2 bedroom at HH for mid August, will be booking at the 7th month window. Does anyone know how many GV's there are there?

HH has 76 dedicated 2BR villas, 21 1BR villas (all lock-off), 21 Studios (all lock-off) and 5 GV's.

There is often some availability on weekends during the summer, due to high point costs (Saturdays are more points than Fridays), but weeknight villas (especially Studios, 1BRs and GVs) are tougher to find.

If there is availability when you call for the first day, I'd continue calling daily for the reservation. If there is no availability at first try, just waitlist. I think it would be better to give specific dates for the waitlist, as general requests would likely have to be manually tracked. Multiple waitlist requests should work too.

Some of the summer reservations may have been booked by HH owners who hope to get into WDW resorts at 7 months. The dynamics of the reservation system allow for many changes as time gets closer.
