Booking Excursions Tomorrow--Questions

We booked our 4 night Wonder cruise last August, and we'll finally hit our 60 day mark tomorrow! So . . . I'm taking 2 hours off of work in the morning, so I can call at 8 a.m. to book our shore excursions. I'm worried that my adult DS & his 13 year old DS (who will have their own cabin) want to book too many excursions. Here's their "plan"--I'd like opinions if they should scale down:

Nassau: DS & DGS want Catamaran Sail & Reef Snorkeling; DGS wants Teen Junkanoo Jam. DH & I want to go to Discover Atlantis. Can DS & DGS get to Atlantis and tour aquarium without booking an excursion in the afternoon?

Castaway Cay: DH & I want fishing excursion. DGS wants Wild Side for Teens. DS wants Walking & Kayak Nature Adventure. Both DS & DGS want parasailing & banana boat.

This seems like too many scheduled things! I'm so excited!! What do any of you think? Thanks!

That sounds like a lot, but it's definitely do-able. For Nassau, the Catamaran Sail & Snorkel is listed as being 3.5-4 hours in length and the meeting time is shown to be 9am. They would have time in the afternoon to take a taxi over to the Atlantis and purchase the wrist bands for the aquarium and dig tour. I think someone mentioned they cost $29. The teen junkaroo is in the evening for about an hour and a half. After reading the reviews in the Passporter guidebook, my DS(14) has decided to skip it. He said he'd rather get some rest and be able to stay up for the late night party on the ship.

On Castaway Cay, your DS could do the walking/kayak adventure while DGS is doing the Wild Side. That will eat up most of the morning. The banana boat is only about a half hour and the parasailing is 45 minutes, so they can probably be done in the early afternoon. That doesn't give much time for relaxing, but if they're up to the challenge, they can squeeze it all in.

TammiMcMan, That's exactly the schedule they want to follow. They're both very active and love to keep busy, so I guess they could fit everything in. Maybe they can relax some during our day at sea. We're going to WDW before the cruise and Universal after. This is a trip of a lifetime for us, so I want them to be happy. Thanks for your thoughts.

Wow, WDW + Disney Cruise + Universal!! That does sound like an incredible trip. My only concern with so many activities would be the weather. It is very hot & humid at that time of year. Make sure they stay hydrated and well protected against the sun.

Have a great time and let us know how it all works out.

Tammi

Tammi, It is a busy trip, but as I said it's a trip of a life time for all of us. Our DS is a single father (the best father I've ever seen), and I think we all deserve to do something fantastic for all of us. Thanks for the warnings about the heat, sun block, etc. We're used to hot summer weather and we do a lot of boating, so we know to drink lots of water, etc. I'm sure, however, it will still seem terrible hot to us (this is the only month we could all go on the cruise). I called at 8 a.m. on the dot, and I got everyting booked (even bottom fishing on CC)--I was finished by 8:15. I'm so excited that I don't know what to do (it's our first cruise). Now I'm going to work on transportation. I don't want to use Mears, and I don't think all of us with luggage for a trip this long would fit in a town car. Since I took 2 hours of leave this a.m., I don't have to be at work until 10 a.m., so I have a little while to work on transportation. Thanks so much for your support!!!

try happylimo for your car service. they have a coupon on castawayclub.com

there is also a service that sponsors these boards that you can call. good luck.

I'm glad you were able to get all the excursions you wanted. That's a big load off your mind I'm sure. Definitely shop around for your best transporation options. We're a family of 5 and it ended up being less expensive to rent a car for our entire trip. Plus my DH loves the added convenience of being able to come and go as we please. Even with the added parking charge of $10 per day at the Port, it worked out better for us. We also wanted to be off the ship and on the road ASAP after our cruise as we only have 2 days at WDW. I'm hoping that having our car right there will save us time also.

Sounds like somebody is going to be doing some laundry on this trip :teeth:
