Here's my dilemma...
When AAA codes come out for 2007 I want to book a room at the Poly.
I would like to know that I have at least a room-only reservation at the Poly for next summer. I am still undecided however on whether or not I might want to add the dining plan later on. I know the only way to get a AAA discounted room plus the dining plan is to book through AAA directly, however I've always booked all my ressies directly through CRO and like the control that provides me. What should I do??? Should I book AAA room-only through CRO, and then if I decide later to add the DP to cancel that and rebook with AAA? How quickly do the AAA discounted rooms sell out?

I am pretty sure that if you call CR you can still have the Cast Member apply the AAA discount. You just have to have your number available.

I did that for when I wanted to reserve a room for this October and they were able to apply it just fine.

Funny you should post this. I'm in the process of switching my AAA room only (that I booked through CRO) to a AAA package so I can add the DP.

If I were you I'd book the room only (at the AAA rate) as soon as they become available, that way you are assured of getting the discounted room. But if you do decide to add the DP later, do not cancel your reservation. Contact your AAA travel agent and they can transfer/change your reservation to a package. If you did cancel your reservation, you would run the risk of someone else snatching up your room, and if the resort is full you'd be out of luck.

Hope this makes sense, PM me if you have any questions or need clarification.

Grumpy'n'Goofy,
What if I book room only through CRO and don't use AAA for that part? If I contact AAA later to add the dining (I do not have a current AAA travel agent), can they transfer a room-only ressie that they did not make?

You can book a room yourself through CRO at the AAA rate (in other words, you don't need to use an agent to book a AAA room-only reservation and get the AAA discount).

Yes, they sure can. This is exactly what I'm doing for our trip in July.

I want to reserve a room for spring 2007 at the Poly and get the dining plan package. Can AAA reserve this far in advance? If not, can I reserve through CRO at the AAA rate this early or is it a rack room rate that I would have to convert through AAA to get the discount and dining plan? If this is the case, how do you know when to convert your reservation? Thanks for a very informative thread!

While we're on the DP subject, one more probably ridiculous question. If I book a 7 night package, how many days of meal credits do I get? 7 days worth (28 of each for the 4 of us) or 8 days worth (32 of each) since it's 7 nights 8 days for our stay?

The number of meal credits is based on the number of nights, so for a 7 night stay you'd get 7 TS, 7CS and 7snacks per person.

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I will book AAA room only this summer and look at converting through AAA to a package next year closer to our trip if we decide that is best for us then. I appreciate the tip about not cancelling the room. I just figured that if I booked Room-Only myself through CRO that a AAA agent wouldn't be able to access that res to transfer it to a AAA package.
