Booking DVC for more than 7 nights?

It looks like the system is set up so you can book online a max of 7 nights in a row.
What's the approach to booking more than 7 nights?

The online computer system will allow 14 nights. However, at exactly 11 months out, or 7 months for resorts other than the one you own, you are allowed to book up to only 7 nights, but you can add days thereafter by calling MS. For example, if you want 8 nights at exactly 11 month s out, book 7 online, wait a day, and then call and add an eighth night.

If you were to book, for example, 10 months out for your home resort, the online system would allow you to do 14 nights.

Also, there is in fact no limit to the number of nights you can get in a row, and it simply depends on how many points you have to use. The online computer system allows only 14 simply because it is not programmed to do more, but you can call MS and book more.

Thanks for this information.

So if I was right on the window, and wanted to book say 10 nights, so an additional 3, would I have to wait 3 more days before calling MS to be able to add all 3 extra nights?

i would call each day and add 1 at a time just to be safe!

You can view the rule as the following: at 11 months out from any date your date of depature from WDW cannot be more than 7 days after that date. Thus, you can reserve 7 nights at exactly 11 months out, and then call daily and add one night with each call until you have 10 nights, or you could wait after the initial call for three days and then call and add three nights. Calling MS daily is the absolute safest course but you should also be safe waiting the three days and adding the three nights at once.

What you cannot do is add any nights to a reservation by doing it online because the only change to any reservation that the online computer system currently allows you do is to cancel the reservation you have.

That's probably not necessary. When you think about it, you pretty much have the unit tied up for the first 7 days of your reservation. No one can book Day#8 when they are 11 months away from your 2nd day. They cannot book Day#9 or Day #10, either. You can call when you are 11 months away from your 4th day and add Days #8, #9 and #10 without worrying about someone else booking those dates because they are still more than 11 months away from those dates.

If not booking one of the smallest villa categories at a busy time what you can do is to wait until 3 days past the 11 day mark and book all 10 nights at once online.
