Just a quick question. Does anyone know whether it is cheaper to organise day tours before you go or while you are there. We plan on doing a Vancouver city tour while in Canada and a LA day tour from Anaheim.
Thanks :)

I can recommend Anaheim 411 for trips to LA from Anaheim. Tom is great. Same rice here and there.

I think it is much of a muchness (have booked the Grand tour through our LA hotel concierge the day before we went on the tour, and the price was similar to the tour's Internet site).

I prefer to book before we travel though, so it is all prepaid (I don't like that expense while we are travelling - that money is for shopping! :lmao: ) We used http://www.allanaheimtours.com/ last time and were very happy with them.

Don't go through the travel agent as they seem to be a lot more than direct. Don't heavily book things to take up all of your time in case the weather is bad, someone isn't well, you feel knackered and want a down day etc. We grab all of the booklets we can find because often they have discount coupons or 2-1 offers.

Thanks everyone. That I was thinking. I'll just leave it until we get there and either buy direct (would the tour desks be ok options?) or I can go online.

Just another quick question...what about tix for shows in Vegas? We might go to see a cirque du soleil show. I'm thinking there in case there's any last minute specials, but thought I'd check.

Be careful in Vegas with tickets where you buy them especially if the seller is offering free or heavily reduced tickets; they often come with a catch. Usually you have to sit through a hard sell timeshare presentation (they often through in free breakfast which is not much at all) before you get the tickets. They'll tell you it's only an hour or so out of your time but in reality it can be much longer. If you do go for the freebies, tick the lowest income bracket on the form, say that you rent etc, make yourself look undesirable as a potential customer.

I would buy Vegas tickets in advance online next time.

For Vegas subscribe to SmarterVegas.com. They send you deals around every month with some very good discounts for accommodation mainly but also shows etc. A lot of Aussies who travel to Vegas regularly (there are lots as obsessed as Dissers it seems but with Vegas) rate it highly-see Trip Adviser forums on Vegas.
