I have noticed more and more people are getting round the rule that you cannot book your stay until the departure date of your intended stay. This is obviously allowable perhaps Disney should remove the rule.DVC members who do not read the various chat rooms are at a disadvantage. They will not be aware that they can book day by day so could loose the days they want. I am also wondering what this practise is costing Disney. Heck what I should say is what is this costing members? The 800 number has to be paid by somebody. I wonder who that could be. No prizes for the correct answer.

No rules are being broken. While I have never booked day by day, I do not travel during peak holiday periods to the the smaller resorts.

Remember that those owners at that resort are competing with themselves, not outsiders, for those reservations during the 11 month window.

While I agree it is probably a strain on the 800 number, it is allowed under the rules.

I have been a member at OKW since 1994 and HHI since 2002 and have never had to do day by day reservations. We travel to WDW during xmas week and also prime summer seasons and have had no problem getting reservations(OKW is larger and easier than others);we have even switched to BCV at 7 months 4th July week and did not do day-by day. We did buy add-on to HHI for summer vacations to be able to book at 11 month because it is hard to get anything in July and August otherwise. That said, I just got 3 nights in August at 7 months as a last minute idea. I know that BWV with standard/preferred views are hard and this resort may require day-by-day for the popular room types.
My opinion is to do this routinely, for every reservations is unneccessary and only adds to the telephone tie up at Member Services. Others certainly feel differently, but my experiences support my philosphy.

I agree.

There is no such rule. It's 11 months from check-out day. On the first day, you reserve the first night, which checks out the next morning. That is within the rules. Then the next day you extend that reservation to add another night. That is also within the rules.

If they changed it that you could not extend the reservation by doing day by day, it would put members who stay longer at a disadvantage. By the time they got to their actual checkout day, rooms for the first nights could be gone. By allowing day by day, everyone is on a level playing field for each night.

Could not have said it better myself!
