Booking Character Breakfasts & Lunches and the Dinner Experience(first time @ Disney)

I'm a noob... First time for me and I'm 33 years old. First time for my wife and she's 31... We've got a 5 year old girl and a 2 year old boy.

We're traveling from Aug 21- 27 Sun-Sat

I've got the Princess thing booked at Epcot for breakfast on the 25th.

I'd like to book the fantasmic dinner thing but they said it's sold out... Is there any other way I'd be able to see the show? Any tips on how I could sneak in to actually book it. Any luck with waiting until a day or 2 before I go to check for cancelations. Any help or other tips would be greatly appreciated. We have the DDP (I know this acronym yay me ) so any other suggestions you may have for character or expierence dining would be appreciated. I know I need to make reservations soon.

Yes, you can still see Fantasmic. You just won't get reserved seats. Without reserved seats, you may need to get there 60+ minutes before the show, which can be hard with 2 young children.

You are already a bit late with dining reservations for the most popular places. So for example, if you want to do Chef Mickeys (horrible food but good characters), you should try to book ASAP.

Just the show. The meals are earlier in the day and just give you passes for the reserved seating. The show is around 8:30 or 9 pm. Look up park hours on the WDW website. If you go to individual park on the site you can look at times for shows, fireworks, parades, etc.
