Has anyone booked an ADR for breakfast at Crystal Palace or Donalds just to get into the park early? I guess it could be done, right?

But the rides wouldn't be open, right? I think that security would notice someone who came into the park early and was just wandering around instead of eating.

For Donald's you are escorted by a Cast Member to the restaurant. You are not free to walk around the park. Even if you finish eating early you are held back by Cast Members at ropes until the park opens.

I believe at the MK they just let you walk without an escort to the Crystal Palace. But even if you skipped the meal all the "lands" are roped off until park opening.

On my last vacation we had an early ADR for Donald's and finished about 15 min before the park was open. We were able to walk around the park and look around and it was really nice. We didn't try to get in line for any rides, but we did get to go into to the bat house. A CM was already there and was more then happy to tell us about the bats. I think the only reason we were able to do this is because it was so close to the park opening. If it had been any earlier I'm sure they would have made us turn around.
I don't recomend making an ADR just to get inside that park early. It's not fair to the people who really want to eat there and you run the risk of being asked to leave and wait outside.

I am sure someone has done this, but I don't think it's fair for the family who really wanted that time frame and couldn't get it or worse yet the resturant was booked.

When we had breakfast at Crystal Palace one morning, it was nice to enter the park early and take pictures without all the people. That got me thinking that you could do this and just not go eat. I couldn't do it, but wondering if anyone ever thought about doing it.

I'm too much of a scaredy cat -but I guess you could just tell them up front that you have ADRs even if you don't. At MK w e've never been asked for any kind of proof or anything.

Yep, 8am at Crystal Palace. A few problems with this--it is hard to finish eating by the time the rope drops (usually before 9am, sometimes as early as 840am). Also the CP becomes quite crowded fast with that 8am sitting, and there is some line waiting to get into the MK and then to actually get seated (it isn't instantaneous that's for sure).

In about 1992 I was at the MK and the Palace was still a cafeteria. Went in there before rope drop and had a cup of coffee and the place was empty.

When we've had ADRs prior to park opening time, there has always been a CM with a list of names of who has ADRs - you give them your name and they check the list, so I don't think just saying you have ADRs if you don't would work.

I agree.. making any ADR and having no intention of showing is pretty inconsiderate. I have a friend who does this and it just ticks me off. At places like Crystal Palace there are lots of families that would love to have that spot for legitimate reasons.

I think it's rude.

I also think what's the point? If the park is closed, what are you going to do?

Also, in my experience, I had to tell them my ADR # to get in (at AK and at Epcot for PSB).

Unreal that someone (in general, not on this thread) could be so selfish and inconsiderate. :sad2:

I dont think you can get away with that, yes they will let you in but once you get in the park where are you going to go....the entire park is blocked off and CMs stand by the ropes so you are stuck....go to CP, the food is awesome!

Don't think you'd be allowed to frolic around the park and have the rides to yourself...it just doesn't work that way.

I went to Donalds before the park opened and I was not escorted by anyone, they just told us where to go...there were ropes up blocking us from going anywhere else

I agree with everyone who said the would not be fair to people who really want to get an ADR to eat there or any restaurant for that matter. It really does not make any sence to be there if nothing is open. Just get to the park early and be first at the rope drop.

I have in the past had to provide my name for my ADR to get into the park. But I guess why would you want to do that?

I think we should link this to the ADR double-booking thread! Consider the possibilities! :lmao:

Maybe WDW should consider charging a fee to everyones credit card for all ADR breakfasts in the theme park restaurants and not just for CRT. This way it would force people to make the ADR and not cancel it at the last minute just because they want to enter the park early.
