read through many threads here about booking. read that if you book the 1st seating when the place opens you get a rail seating. but i called to make reservations, and they told me that is not true. you could be placed anywhere in the restaurant. hmmm.
ok so what are your experiences? we have 6 in our group.

We have done water seating for a group. You just have to be prepared to wait. That being said, we have some other favorite areas to eat--usually off to the side. It is more quiet, you have the ambience, but as crazy as it sounds, all the guests in the boats can be a bit distracting. They cat call, use flash, etc. Now, when the ride is down, that is another story... That is just to say even if you aren't right by the water, you will have a lovely time. LSS--if your heart is set on a water table, you just ask at the front counter and then wait.

They will not book a waterside table. When you check in, tell them you want to wait for a waterside table. The will often give you an inflated wait time like 45 mins. I have never waited more than 20 mins (often less) and it is well worth it.

That being said, there are no six seat tables waterside. A four and two seat table will need to be vacant and combined. While I have seen this done, I believe there is only one or two ways this works (there are only a total of about 8 waterside tables - not sure of exact count). Your wait may be longer than mine since we are either a party of 2 or 4. Your best bet is to book the first slot of the day and arrive early to check in, so that those two tables have not been occupied and can be combined more easily.

Enjoy!

Are you talking about a water side table at the Blue Bayou OR a table at the front railing of the River Belle Terrace seating/dinner for Fantasmic?

I don't think any of the CMs on the dining reservation line are going to guarantee that you'll get a waterside table at the Blue Bayou regardless of reservation time or party size. They cannot put specific table requests on the reservation, so they'll err on the side of caution and tell you that you could be seated anywhere in the restaurant. While it seems like the BB CMs do seat from waterside inward, it's always possible that something will happen that will require them to seat guests further away from the water initially. So, the phone CMs cannot promise a specific table location. When you check in, you'll need to request a waterside table at that point and tell the CM that you'll be willing to wait. Personally, I think if you have a reservation for opening, you stand a pretty good chance of getting a waterside table, even with a party of 6.

I'm not sure how it works with a party of six, but every time I have made an 11:30 (first of the day) reservation, I arrive by at least 11:15 and request a water table. The last 3 times, when I request the water side table, the hostess has told me the 11:30 reservations all get a waterside table. I will keep making 11:30 reservations and keep requesting a waterside table. My luck, the one time I don't they will not seat me there.

I'm so glad I found this post! My husband and I are hoping to make it out there for our two year anniversary, and I was wondering how reserving waterside seating went (I haven't eaten at the Blue Bayou in over 10 years).
While it looks to be a good idea going at opening, what would the chances of requesting waterside during their dinner hours be?

If you go early for your reservation and wait long enough they can usually accommodate you.

This is what we've always done. We like their dinner menu better. And we've never failed to get waterside. Follow smartlabelprint's directions. They usually will quote a 45 minute wait, but then normally seat you within 20 minutes or less.

I've eaten at BB a number of times now (hubby's favorite place), and we've always been able to get waterside, even at dinner time. Basically, I check in 30 minutes ahead of the reservation, request a waterside table, and let them know we are willing to wait. They will quote 45 minutes, and I agree I am willing to wait that long. Then they give me a little buzzing pager (like at Olive Garden), and tell me how far away I can go. I browse the nearby shops, and generally get paged within 30 minutes (usually more like 15 minutes, but once was like 40 minutes).

Excellent! Thank you all so much! I've been meaning to take my husband there ever since I first introduced him to Disneyland when we were dating. Everytime I always forget to make reservations, but this time round, I'll be prepared. ;)

When are you going? We have a reservation on the 20th for a late lunch and I want to request waterside for our group of 6. I’ve never seen bigger tables by the water, so I wasn’t sure either. I’d love to hear how it goes for you!

We’ve never been to B.B. would like to have dessert and have reservation for around 2:30, 2:50. Is that a busy time? I was thinking A water side table would be fun.

I’d save up until you can afford dinner. We went for dessert only once. It was incredibly awkward. And I felt cheap.

It’s always busy there.

We were there this last week and they only had two desserts available, pumpkin creme brûlée and chocolate cake. Very bummed because I would have ordered dessert (maybe regular creme brûlée). I asked to see a menu and they don't have one. Neither option verbally offered sounded appealing to me.

Oh ok. Thanks for letting me know. It would’ve been for my little ones’ experience anyway so I think I will cancel. They’d likely be more interested in meeting spider man and Thor than a fancy meal. ETA: We are already scheduled for two character meals so no big deal.

The kids meals are a great deal-$10 each. The adults could split a meal. It’s $13 (I think) extra to add a salad and side (split plate charge).

Dessert was meh. I had vanilla creme brûlée.

Great! How much for adult meals? It’s not a must do so if it’s > $30 I will cancel.
