Booking at AAA rate switching later to AP rate?

I would like to book our trip for next July now. Can I book the old fashioned way with a AAA discount and then switch if need be, when AP rates come out? I really want to pay my trip in advance, and heard I can't do this with Best Rate. If at 120 days out, the best rates come out for my stay, can I just call CRO and have the discount applied, or MUST I go through Best Rate? I do have an activated AP, by the way. I just would really like to book now, and pay in advance....the non refundable deposit has nothing to do with it. What would you do? Advice appreciated!

I would book thru AAA & (if) when the rates come out, call & have them switch it. If they cannot do that, then just rebook with lower rate & then cancel the AAA rate ressie. I have booked with rack & then called to have either FL Resident or AP rate applied & never had a problem.

Would I be able to switch from AAA to Best Rate or just wait and hope for regular AP rates? I know it sounds stupid but I would like to be booked further than 120 days out and really want to pay in advance. Why can't you pay in advance with Best Rate? Anyone know?

From what I've read, you can't just have them switch over the room to a better discount. They have to make a new ressie. But I did get a AAA rate room, then when I found a better deal with the AP I booked that and cancelled the AAA one.

Thank you. I had booked AAA this past trip and switched to an AP when the rates came out. I'm more confused over Best Rate, though. I guess I'll book at a AAA rate and see what happens with Best Rate. My trip wouldn't be until July 2006.

Did you have to pay a penalty?
