My cousins and aunt accepted my invitation to join my sister and me in Disney for 4 nights this December. I have to book at 7 months and my aunt needs a HA roll in shower unit. Two bedrooms with the roll in shower are all booked according to RAT except for OKW and SSR (lockoffs). Of those, OKW would be my preference because there are 5 sleeping surfaces, 3 of which are real beds. I think the master bedroom is where the wheelchair shower is, so my aunt gets the master. If only SSR is available, I would jump at it. I have hoped these family members would accept an invitation to join me in WDW, and I am happy they are coming. My aunt is nearly 80, she is not in good health, but her attitude is great!

If I look at 1 bedrooms, Kidani comes up, both in HA roll in shower, and non HA units as well. I have enough points for 2 1 bedrooms in Kidani if they are still available when I can book.

I am unsure if my aunt will use her walker at the resort and use an ECV in the park, or if she will use an ECV at all times. In the very least, I hope she can get to a Candlelight Processional, so Kidani may offer her entertainment during the visit if going to the parks prove to be too much.

(Right now a bungalow at the Poly, and a GV at VGF are available, I do not have points for those.:scared1: I see a GV at SSR and AKV, Jambo are also available, and if need be, I could do either. )

Given the circumstances, needing roll in shower and availability, would you choose a 2 bedroom unit or the 2 1 bedrooms if they are available when I can book?

DH will overlap with these family members for 1 night. We'll have dinner together that night, either in Olivia's or Turf Club, in Kidani, I don't know what we would do, maybe Uber somewhere they would choose.

I would want the Jambo H/C GV. We have stayed in the roll in shower unit. It is awesome. It is also one story. The animal view isn't so great from that GV but still would prefer it over SSR. It has a really great balcony where as the SSR balcony is very tiny. Kidani one bedroom would give you 2 bathrooms per unit. I always like if possible to keep the group together but would prefer the extra bathrooms so would choose 2 one bedrooms over a 2 bedroom.
Of course my favorite place to stay is BWV because of the access to dining and entertainment at night. My DS isn't always up to going to the parks so if he and his caregiver stay behind there is plenty for them to still enjoy.

Thank you for your insight.
I will go over the numbers, and plan accordingly. I have a fair number of points to work with.
If we tweaked the days, sometimes a 1 bedroom HA with the roll in shower is available at BWV, but then my DH does not see the family. I agree about that location being best for my aunt, since she is mobility challenged.

I would suggest the AKV options. For someone staying back, the resort is beautiful and there's a lot to see. For dining, we never miss Boma, no matter where we are staying.

Ok...thank you. We are waiting for our booking date!

And actually, the GV at Jambo would probably be wonderful. I know the feeling of trying to get people to come for ages, and that would impress them so much you might get them to come back again! And of course, there's Boma right there...

When we traveled with my mother who needed a wheelchair I'd say that AKV was her favorite for days if she did not feel up to getting out with us for the entire time. We stayed at AKV, BWV and VWL. And if we all came back for a rest then she and I would get out for a more extended look around the resort - very good memories.

If it's not too much of a stretch I'd do the HA Jambo GV. It is a bit further from the lobby than some HA rooms but as close as any of the GV's get there and really not too bad. I'd also recommend encouraging your aunt to get an ECV to use all of the time as it will give her more freedom around any of the resorts as most get pretty spread out so even getting from the buses or dining to a room can be a haul.

I am willing to go for the HA GV if available. Some HAs do not have the roll in shower, I know the one in Jambo does.

Thank you for your thoughts. Over the years we have celebrated an 85th and an 80th birthday with family members. I am happy that we'll be able to make memories with this branch of the family as well!

Yes we will encourage her to get the ECV, she's a lot of fun to be with. I know she wants to have fun, I think she'll go with one.
