If you don't book your trip as a package, how long before your trip do you book your air? Do you just watch for seat sales? :confused3

We are looking at going in Nov. and are just curious as to when to book our airfair by? :confused3

Last April I booked my flight for this March (11 months in advance ) it was a great deal and I will probably do it again this year. Others however will say wait for last minute sale but I'm tooooo much the planner to do that. I just plug in Kayak.com and see what's avaliable.Good luck planning.

I feel it is best to know where you are willing to fly from now should a good deal show up, and how far out you are willing to expanding you airport search as time closes in. Where in Ontario are you?

Case in point... I started watching March Break fares in August... and absolutely nothing came up (or I had really bad timing), and we ended up book just a few eekds ago from Detriot for the best I have seen for March break at $218 R/T each.

Another word of advice... once you book it, be happy with the deal you found and don;t look back! You could drive yourself nuts!

For my trip that past in October/November, I booked a package deal on the Disney website. I booked at the end of August. I knew approximately which dates that I wanted to go, so I saved a few options. From there, I waited for a seat sale and low and behold there was one the next week. So I was very lucky to have everything fall into place in such a close period of time. It all comes down to timing. FYI fares are cheaper if you are willing to leave on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. The rest of the week, you will have to be paying higher fares.

Truthfully, I watch for a price I can live with paying and I have it booked at least one month before I go. I'm too nervous to wait until last minute for a "potential" sale.

It matters to me more that I get there on a direct flight and with schedules that will maximize my vacation time. I don't want the 2 times connecting flight so I can save $30 each way and then I have to buy breakfast/lunch/dinner at an airport.

If I get what I want with a Ding from Southwest, perfect. If not, oh well.

If I price it one day on say... AirTran and it shows $400 r/t, I walk away, if I go back the next day and it shows $200 for the same flight options, chances are good I'll book that.. and then like OnMedic says... once you book it, never look back at prices!

If you are looking to go around the US Thanksgiving, be prepared for higher fares, and if you see a good fare book it, but for the earlier part of November you should see some good sales or dings.

I'm told their Thanksgiving is Nov. 27 this year, so we are planning to go the week before that so we'd be home before their Thanksgiving week starts.:thumbsup2
