Booking ADRs: When everything goes wrong

So last night was my first 180+10 night. I was set up: computer, ipad and iphone at the ready and logged in with cc details already entered, ressie linked - spreadsheet with restaurants and times on my left, notepad and pen on my right. 9pm (I'm in Sydney Australia) rolls around and I refresh - we're off! Except we're not. It seems I'd fallen victim to the infamous glitch where the +10 doesn't work and I could only get the first day of our stay :( I tried all the tricks suggested here and elsewhere; refreshing, logging out, clearing the cache, going in from different launch pages, using the MDE app - but all to no avail. After 45 minutes I finally admitted defeat and resigned myself to using my horrible landline to call Dining when 10pm rolled around.

I call, get through and despite the connection being awful and my phone making crackling noises as if I was calling from 1955 itself, I manage to snag the coveted BOG dinner reservations as well as my 8 other ressies - hooray! I give my cc details and we're waiting for the reservation numbers to pop up when.... silence....horrible, agonising silence. My phone had completely died and I was disconnected :( I panic. I download Skype, which I haven't used in ages and need to set up a whole new account, add some US call credit and call on the computer....but the microphone is so poor that the CM can't hear me well at all! Panic again as I now download Skype onto my mobile (cell) and try again. This time it's a much clearer line and the CM is wonderful. She goes in to check for the ressies using my resort booking number.... nothing....my email address....nothing....my phone number....nothing....I'm starting to feel deflated as it's now 10:40 and I am sure BOG is totally booked out when she asks for my zip code. I give her my post code and *DING DING DING*!!!! They're all there!!! The CM gives me all the reservation numbers whilst I keep interrupting her with my thanks (she probably told all her CM friends how she had some loony from Australia on the phone first thing this morning). I link the first reservation in MDE and there they all. All ADRs pop up where they should be. And now I can do my little celebration dance. I got BOG. My family don't get it, but they will when we're dining there :D And tonight I might get more than four hours sleep :D

So glad it worked out for you in the end! :thumbsup2 But what a pain!!!! :headache:

The 180+10 has not worked for me online in a few years and nobody knows why.

Glad everything worked out in the end! This happened to me when I was online right at 6am, when my dining window opened. Only able to book first day, and had to call in at 7am for the rest. Had no problem getting what we needed and did not have to tweak any times. It was so nice to get everything. The CM on the phone said they should show up on their own on MDE.. glad I wrote down my confirmation numbers because they didn't show. Just like yours, after I put the first one in, they all showed up. So relieved to have that done. Now the waiting.. next is FP's!!!!!

Hmmm. I have never had an issue booking +10 when I have booked on Disney's site. Plus since I'm going during a "value" period I got everything from Ohana, BOG and VA. No dessert Parties are listed yet for September which is my only complaint.

Glad you are good to go. Aussies are fun to hang with at Disney.

WOW, sorry everything went wrong in the beginning, that can be very stressful. Glad everything worked out well in the end! Have a wonderful trip and enjoy BOG! :goodvibes

Glad you got everything. Last year was the first time ever that 180+10 worked online for me. Luckily I'm up early for work so I was able to log in each morning before leaving to do my ADRs day by day - although it was a total pain.

What is the +10 referring to, after the 180?

When you are 180 days out from your stay at a WDW resort, you can make dining reservations for your entire stay - up to 10 days after check in. We check in on Sept 13, so 180 days out from Sept 13 (last Thursday) I was able to make my dining reservations for not only Sept 13, but through to Sept 23. Only it wasn't (and still isn't) working for me online. There is apparently a known glitch. I had a friend who was able to do hers at exactly the same time and it worked online for her, so it seems a bit random.

Thanks everybody :) I wish my boys were excited about BOG, but they tend to see anything princessesy and take an immediate dislike to it. I know their tune will change though once we're actually there :D

Thank you for your explanation. We usually stay a week and knew that we could do the ADRs at the 180 day mark. I didn't know it was only for 10 days. Thanks for your clarification. I hope it starts working without glitches for everyone.

I'm assuming there's no way to know in advance if you'll fall victim to the "glitch"?? I'll be so bummed if that happens to me! Glad it worked out for you.

Yeah! The 180 + 10 never works for me online. I can say, the last trip I planned everything last minute, scored reservations for my Dad and his wife when we were there, and they didn't really get it at all. Until we left, and they tried to stop in a restaurant. And they couldn't. I got a thank you note for coordinating such good food. The tizzy I go in 6 months out is worth it when we are on vacation.

So happy it worked out for you in the end but what do I need to do regarding having my cc information already in the system?
I will be making my ADRs in the next few months for my trip December 26-January 1 so it will be an extremely busy time and will
be up and ready to make my ressies as soon as they open. I just want to input my credit card information like you did so I'm all set.

Thanks so much!

I put my credit card details into MDE by going to My Account > My Profile > Payment Methods. I hope you have more luck with MDE online than I did :D

Awesome news! The ADR calculator gave me my 180 day window date so I set my alarm and made my list so I would be ready to go on the actual morning. Finished up my list the day before around 10:30am and went into the system to "practice" and reacquaint myself with everything. Guess what? My window was open....had been open for hours!! Somehow I managed to get every single ADR I wanted (some I could not get the exact time I wanted but close enough) except for a 2nd ADR at CRT that I was trying to snag so that some friends who will be with us for the first few days of our trip could experience it. But we got the breakfast CRT I really wanted for later in the trip so I'm still super pleased. I don't know if the calculator was wrong or I was but it was a close call!! Glad it all worked out for you...have fun!

Thank you VERY much! I just printed this out and will do this. Thank you!

agreed, thanks, this was incredibly helpful to know that just because this service is AVAILABLE online does not guarantee it is without fault. I will be prepared to call at 7am (heck I'll probably start dialing right away at 6 to get on hold). If we don't get Hoop the days we want, I may cry. I've already cried at getting shut out of a certain resort so I guess my nerves are already shot 7 months prior...
