Booking ADR's...travel agent or no?

My travel agent also will book our ADR's for us. It sounds like a great idea but I am just wondering if anyone has done it this way? I guess my concern is missing the boat somehow if say my first or second choice isn't available.

Hi, we had our TA do our ADR's last year, we gave her a list of what we wanted and then when she could get us those ressies we planned our days from there. There were a couple of ressies we couldn't get and ended up calling and changing ourselves later on, if you can't get something you absolutely want than continue to call daily to see if you can get them incase someone has cancelled. We are planning on going in Sept again and I will have my TA book for me again, and then hopefully I won't need to change them.

i'm in favor of doing it yourself - the interaction with the cast member is usually pretty good and they can suggest things as you are talking with them---

I think I'd rather do it myself. That way if a certain time is not available it's up to me to choose if we eat earlier or later. Also if the restaurant I chose does not have any ADR's left I can choose where I want to go or maybe change a dinner to lunch (or the opposite) if I can get into the restaurant I want.

Thanks for the info. I have a feeling that I am a little too much of a control freak to let someone else do the ressies for me! Sounds good, but if changes are needed I'd have to call myself anyway!

Our TA has made our ADR's the last five trips. She is absolutely the best. I give her our places, our time frame, etc. She then makes them and, if for some reason she can't get one in the time frame I wanted, she will make it as close as possible and then ask me if it is okay or if I want to try a different day. She also has been known to keep checking back if there was something unavailable that I wanted (this has only happened once...she usually gets everything the first time out). She also is more than happy to make any changes I want...and I am known to change my ADR's from time to time.

Wow, thanks for posting. It's good to hear from someone who has done this a few times. Maybe I'll reconsider! Plus, I do know my travel agent...DS friend's mom. I'm sure she'd take good care of us...just afraid I may not be able to let someone else have control!

My wonderful AAA agent made all of our ADR's last week with no problems at all. She got everything we asked for including the times we wanted. I was more than happy to let her do them after reading about the long wait times people here on the boards were experiencing. I am very pleased to say the least!!
