I am just playing around with dates for DH and I, and our DD and her family, so her, SIL and 3 grandsons, ideally we would book adjoining rooms, specifically the Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms, with verandah.

As I try to do this, if I look at available staterooms, when I select the first one for DD’s room, I am not able to select the adjoining room for our room. Is there a secret to doing this? I would prefer to book directly, instead of using a travel agent.

thank you!

If you're just wanting next to or across the hall from each other (which is what adjoining rooms are), pick any that are next to or across the hall from each other.

If you're meaning connecting rooms, I believe the deck plans that show when you go into book would have a little slash indicating the connecting internal door.

If the connecting room to hers is not showing, then it is not available.

If you don't want to use a travel agent (really no reason not to - the only thing you can't do is make payments or changes), you could probably call DCL and see if their person can find connecting staterooms. But be sure to say you want connecting - there is a difference in travel-industry speak between the terms. All connecting rooms adjoin, but not all adjoining rooms connect.

I just did this for my parents and my own family. I called and they took all of the information from me for both parties, I provided my dads email for their reservation and then mine for my own and they placed a 3 day hold on each room and emailed each of us our booking email so we could each pay.

With apologies, we specifically would want connecting rooms.. where I am haviving issues, if.I pick the first room, the connecting room shows available, 15 seconds later, when selecting the seconded room, it is not available.

Sounds like you either need to use a TA or call DCL.

Or just book them one at a time and then link the reservations.

I would just call DCL No travel agent needed, and they can tell you what connecting rooms are available. I would also have a second device handy, with the ship’s deck plans pulled up, so you can actually see the locations offered.
Super easy.

Are you clicking on one room then the other to check availability? You may be locking yourself out. When somebody selects a room in the booking process, the system holds it for a period of time — maybe 20 minutes.

That sounds like it’s maybe to do with lifeboat availability. Have you tried different sets of connecting rooms?
