Booking a Vacation

This past summer my family went to Disney World for the first time. I got the bug and now I am so anxious to go back. My wife and I are planning for out 15 year anniversary - to go by ourselves -- NO kids. Shame on us I know, but anyway.

My question is this. I know we are not going this year, but I would like to start paying now. How far in advance can you make reservations? Can you make them for two years in the future? If now, would we be able to schedule for as next summer, start paying, then change the reservation next year before the 40 day mark?

This would make it possible for us to pat on the trip for a couple years in smaller amounts. We though about just putting back money, but we know ourselves to well. And we know that would never work.

I believe the longest you can start making reservation is 500 days and that is room only. You make reservations for your stay and you pay at least one night as a deposit. Then when the packages are released you call them up and tell them you want it switched from room only to a package.

You can always change your reservation and keep your money you put down as far as changing dates/resorts as long as you haven't hit the 45 day mark. We changed our dates 3 times and resorts once all outside of the 45 days and it was easy. We had booked a package then my wife became pregnant so we oushed it back a year then ended up going 6 months earlier (my wife gave birth when we would have been at Disney. Good thing we changed).

Anyways, you can book for a December date and pay on it then when packages come out over summer switch it to a 2012 date. Or change it when you get within 500 days.
