Booking a Package

We are going to be booking a package for us, but friends of ours are looking at maybe not doing parks this time. They are going to book a package, but if they decide they won't need the tickets, can the change to a room only? They are also, thinking of just doing a 1 day park ticket, which you can't get with a package online, can you do that on the phone?

They might be better off booking a room only first and adding tickets separately...or a ticketless package over the phone if they want the dining plan.

Changing from a package to RO is doable, but it's not as easy as just dropping the tickets. The package would have to be cancelled/refunded and a RO reservation booked, requiring a new deposit equal to 1 night's room rate + tax (balance due at check in). With that said, I agree with the pp that if your friends aren't getting the DDP, it's probably best to book RO and buy tickets separately (I'm not sure if a package can be booked with a 1 day park ticket by calling). If they do decide to buy just 1 day, they need to decide whether it will be MK or one of Epcot/DHS/AK as well as which day they will go, as the price varies according park/day.
