I remember when I used to go to WDW with my parents, we would sometimes add a night once we were down there. I distincly remember doing this twice, once at the Contemp and once at WL. This was in the 90s so it was also a time when we didn't even know what ADRs were and were still able to eat where we wanted without too much of a wait. I know crowds in general have gone up substantially so I'm wondering if you think it's still possible to book a night once you are there.

Here's the situation. For our honeymoon next summer, we are doing 5 nights at the Poly, then taking the Disney Cruise. The cruise comes back on Saturday early morning and I was thinking that we would have time to do a little World Showcase and catch a later flight out that evening. Then I was thinking I'd surprise DFi and book one more night at the Beack Club and fly home the next afternoon. But as much as he LOVES WDW, he's not quite as enthusiastic about it as I am and I'm not sure it's a good idea to book it and have the chance that he may just want to go home.

SOOO....bottom line, how possible do you think it would be to book a night at the Beach Club in the beginning of August THAT morning?

(I'm sorry, I tend to ramble)

2 years ago, I think, the day we were supposed to drive home after 8 days at AKL, we wanted to stay one more night and walked right into the Boardwalk Inn and got a room for one night at an AP rate. It was the end of June, so it was a pretty busy time. We were psyched!!!

Well, that's hopeful, at least. Anyone else have an experience doing this?

Easier than changing your flight plans that close to departure...

Uh, that's a really good point that I didn't even think about that. I guess it doesn't matter if I can get the room or not, I'd need to know in advance anyway for flight purposes.

Yes, we did it last year. However they made us call the reservation line in the morning as they didn't take reservations directly at the hotel. In our case we stayed at Pop.

I would book just to be on the safe side--I just wouldn't want to take a chance.

I recall we had to do that too. The CM at BWI pointed us to a phone in the lobby and we called CRO, booked and walked right back over to her to check in. :thumbsup2
