Booking a Disney Hotel

For those of you that have booked with one of the Disney Hotels, do you call the hotel directly or book through the Disney website. I've always gone through a travel agent but since we are flying with airmiles this time, I'm doing it all on my own.

We always stay at PP and I always book through the Disney Website! Then I go back and call Vacation Planning for all of the little extras; fantasmic seats, dinner reservations, cookies in the room, etc.

If you are trying to do anything straightforward and simple, the website is just fine. If you need any questions answered for whatever reason, you could use a CM on the phone to book. Although, in dealing with CMs, sometimes you get more info. here on the DIS than you will from them!

I called them direct as I wanted to use my AAA and had to do that on the phone.

I call the hotel @ 714 -778 -6600. They are always so helpful. They have such wonderfull ideas to suggest for your visit.

On our last trip with my brother and his family, I had Chocolate covered strawberries waiting for them in their room and we had chocolate covered rice krispie squares in our room! Cookies were on another evening I had them delivered to the room. All arranged by those wonderful people in Vacation Planning!

I booked on-line and then just showed my card when we checked in. I hope I didn't pay full price.
And the year before I booked online as well.

I have heard that for AAA the rate can be way better if you call direct! I am going to test it out for next Spring, as we are staying at the HOJO but are going to splurge for one night at DLH.

I have never booked on the Disneyland website, I've either called the hotel directly or used getawaytoday.com - I have an AP, so if there are good rates available I call the hotel.

I originally called DLH directly and got a good AAA rate. However, we wanted the extras that come with the AAA package (preferred seating at shows, toontown morning madness, coupon book, pins, etc.) so we booked directly through AAA for only $21 more total on top of the room and tickets only rate, which we thought was a great deal. AAA took care of arranging some birthday things as well with Disney.

I hope they did that. I had the agent on the line and I was on the site at the same time. The agent told me I had to book by phone for the AAA discount. The site was showing cheaper, but that was before fees and such. In the end the AAA was cheapest. I just sent in my payments so I wouldn't have to worry about it when we got there.
Also, there is a $10.50 per DAY resort fee added and this is not included in your quote. I added it to my payment that I sent in.

That was lucky! We looked at AAA package and was over $100.00 higher for each package (we are getting three rooms).
For the $21.00 I would have taken it too.

I call the AP holder line and make the ressies that way. We don't normally stay on-site but occasionally they have a killer AP rate that makes it worth it.

That sounds like fun! Do you think it is something I can set up just with the DLH???
