Does DVC members get any benefits when taking one of the Disney Cruises? I'm planning our first cruise, will probably pay cash for one of us and pts for the second person. Looking at early 2010 or maybe Nov 2009, the 2010 schedule hasn't been posted yet, so I'm still waiting. I did notice that you can book a cruise up to 2 years in advance, can a cruise really be booked on pts before the schedule is posted? How does this work? Plus, in the past how much does the pts usually increase each year? Hopefully they don't increase by much each year.

Thanks.

Yes you can book a cruise on points before the schedule is posted. They'll reserve the room for you (no points in holding since you don't know how many it is) and once the schedule is posted, you need to confirm that you still want the room or you can cancel (no penalty within a certain timeframe). So long as a cruise date is available (currently through 2009), you can book on points.

Can't help you on how much they increase by, we're fairly new DVC owners.

I just booked a 3-day DCL with points, taking my sister and her family with us for our first DVC trip. We were going by the 2008 points/dates and thought Cat 8 or 9 staterooms were probably all we could "afford" for 8 of us, but right before I booked, the 2009 points chart came out (I think I found it online) and the better cat staterooms had actually gone down! We ended up transferring points from another member to really do it up right, but it was more "affordable" in 2009 to upgrade to cat 6 staterooms with a verandah.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Kristina

So what do I do? Call member services and ask them to place my name on the list for like late Feb. for a certain stateroom and location on the ship and when the schedule comes out they will call to confirm in order to see if I still want the spot. As you can tell this is my first cruise.
