I remember reading sometime in the last month or so, that in the DVC 1BR villas, even if the room has an occupancy of 4, you can still book 5 into the room. Is this accurate?

I believe someone (and I remember it was someone who posts on here often) said that you can book 5 into a BWV 1-BR for example, but you just have to provide your own sleeping bag or linens, etc., for the 5th person. Is this true? I've always thought that Disney never allowed you to book above the occupancy - can't do fastpasses, etc.

I have a family of 5. And while my youngest is still only 1, soon she will be 3 and whether we could stay in a 1BR at BWV or BCV, etc, would affect our buying decision. When I looked at the Occupancy chart on dvcrequest.com, it showed the only 1-BR's that sleep 5 are VGF, BLT, and AKV.

Thanks!

Yes, it's shown on the DVC reservation system. One exception is AKV value rooms. You can have 5 but no extra bedding or linens.

We have 5 in a 1-bdr at BWV since 2005, never have had a problem and everyone on the reservation.

Yes look at DVCmember when you book any 1 bedroom it states that you can have 5 but sometimes says you need to provide bed/linen depending on the resort.

I would say though as a family of 5 ourselves I wouldn't chose to do it at other than VGF, BLT, AKV or OKW. The other 1 bedrooms space would be very tight especially sleeping space for the 3 children once the littlest outgrows a pack and play.

Yes you can book 5 in a bwv 1 bedroom, but they don't offer additional linens or additional beds. We booked an 1 bedroom for this summer. We plan to give the 3 granddaughters the king bed and us old folks will take the queen sleeper. If some had to sleep on the floor we would not have booked it. Though we are wait listed for a 1 bedroom at BLT. But we can make BWV work.

Just curious, this is different than going direct through Disney and paying cash, right? If you book through disney they don't allow you to put more than the occupancy, right?

Anyone know why they let DVC members go above occupancy when they don't let Cash buyers do so?

You are correct this does not apply to cash guests. You can't exactly say to cash guests you can pay for an extra person but you won't get a bed or linen

also--OKW 1 BR have a pull-out sleeper chair w/ linens in addition to sleeper sofa--so no need to bring any extra bedding for the 5th person. We are a family of 5 and find an OKW 1 BR more than adequate, even with 3 teens. I have called MS and added the 5th person at OKW many times. The 5th gets get ME, Magic Bands, etc.
