Booking 3 or 4 night vs 7 night once sailing resumes?

Pre-Covid we always booked 7 or 8 night cruises when planning trips in advance and would use the 3 or 4 night for any last minute trips.

We have 3 DCL 7-night cruises booked through May 2022. But wondering if should change to 4 night sailings to test how cruising is with the new Covid rules. Concerned about getting on the ship and if things are too different feeling trapped for the longer cruise. But the great memories of our 7 night trips and the fact rooms we like sell out quickly and must be booked on release date have me booking and not wanting to miss those 7 night sailings when they start back.

Would be interested to hear if others are still booking as they did in the past or if are being more cautious with a shorter cruise at first.

Personally I would book the same cruise I had wanted before. Whatever changes DCL has up its sleeve are very likely going to be revealed before it's too late to back out. So you should be able to learn about what the cruise will be like, and then decide to cruise or not upon receiving that information.

This. We currently have a 7-night booked in early 2022 but if I am assuming we should know what the restrictions will be before our cancellation penalty kicks in. Depending on what they say, we may switch to a 3 or 4 night.

That said, I would also potentially like to cruise in 2021 but am deliberately NOT booking anything in 2021 yet because I don't want to risk finding out of restrictions that won't work for me too late to back out (for example, I don't mind masks, some reduced amenities, and distanced characters, but no kids club would be a dealbreaker for me).

We are finding that the prices for the 3- and 4-night 2021 cruises during the dates we cruise have shot up on a per-night basis. Factor that into your plans.

For us, it's always the longer, the better. We just came back from a week at a resort in Riviera Maya and had a great time. Quite confident that a cruise ship will mirror most of the same COVID experience and - in the case of Disney - a whole lot more entertaining too.

Just because itineraries didn't change, we have only 3, 5, and 4 days booked on DCL in 2021. One of the 5 night cruises is NYC to San Juan with a stop in Bermuda. I really hope that happens. However, it’s on the Magic, and who really knows if/when the Magic is sailing again! :guilty: We booked that one the first day we could, Platinum day.
