Booking 2014?

Can I add the dining plan after making reservations? I don't think the 2014 rate is out yet, but my ADR date is later this week.

More experienced folks can correct me if I am wrong, but I think the following two things are true:

1. Yes you can add a DP at any time.

2. You don't need to add a DP to make ADRs at 180 days out. As long as you have booked a room you can make your ADRs. For all Disney knows you could intend to pay out of pocket for your meals, you don't need the DP to make dining reservations.

Yes, you can add the dining plan up to 3 days before your check in date for a reservation through CRO/DRC or 2 days if it's a points reservation with DVC.

You will need your Disney resort reservation number to take advantage of the 180 + 10 perk for resort guests. And since you don't have the dining plan yet, you will have to pay in full for reservations to CRT and the 3 dinner shows at the time of booking.

180+10 is a perk to on-site guests. It allows those with a confirmed Disney resort reservation the ability to book up to 10 days worth of dining at 180 days before date of check-in. Otherwise, you may only book dining at 180 days before date of dining. (Obviously, you can book later than that, those are the earliest times you can book).

It's a description of the perk, 180 (days before check in) + 10 (days you can book).

(DVC points and cash reservations do qualify for this perk!)

Depending on DVC ownership and the person's home resort, you should be able to book at least 11 or 7 months in advance, which covers the 180. You can add dining anytime up to 48 hours (since it's DVC, it's 72 hours for non-DVC) before check-in. The caveat is that you have to pay in full for the plan when you add it.

With DVC and points not being out (I don't know if they are or not, it's not my purview), I'm not sure how they handle it, but I'd venture to guess that home resorts can still be booked at 11 months out, since that's the whole point of home resorts.

Disney rarely releases the actual prices (I think they did once). However, by going through the booking site, you can get an idea of the 2014 pricing. This is posted on these forums somewhere (~$59 for DDP, ~$105 DxDDP). There also is no longer a seasonal "upcharge" like there was in the past, so that's something that DVC no longer gets the advantage of .

Of course, since we've seen the first ever mid-year price jump last week (or so), these prices could change for the start of the year.

(For the past few years, some of us math-minded people have been figuring out the plan costs via pricing different trip scenarios via the website and then using some basic math to figure out the costs. This always showed an increase starting in Jan and lasted throughout the year. This was the first year that it changed from within the year starting forward. I would expect the same pattern for next year too.)

I looked through some of the other threads and found approx 2014 pricing, too. At least "early 2014", as you point out above.

We're doing a trip in mid-January...so that was a great help in helping me crunch some numbers.

No DDP for us in 2014....
