Booking 2 studios?

We're planning to take my Dad with us to Disney over Thanksgiving 2015...and will only have enough pts to do 2 studios (vs a 2 bedroom)

I've never booked 2 studios before...any tips?

I'd like to book it online at 7mths at 8AM vs. waiting until member services opens at 9AM. Would that work? Does someone from our household need to be listed in his room, or can I just book one for him and one for our family of 4? (Of course to make things even more confusing...we'll actually be checking out of Disney (from April vacation) on our 7 mth booking date, so we'll likely be trying to do this through the Disney WiFi. :lmao:)

I know I'm asking this question early, but I've been planning out the next 2 years of points and was curious as to how the 2 studio thing works as far as booking goes.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

You don't need to (and shouldn't) list yourself on two reservations for the same dates. The occupants of each reservation should be based on who will be staying in that room.

You can reserve two studios on line as two separate reservations. You need to put at least one name on each of them at time of booking and you could put his on one or even your own on both (and then call or email MS later to modify the reservations to provide identity of those who will be in each room). There is no guarantee the rooms will be close to each other but after reserving on line, you can call (or email) to provide a request that states those in the rooms are traveling together and request rooms close to each other.

From your post, it appears you intend to reserve at 7 months out. If those nights include Tuesday through Friday of Thanksgiving week then there is a very high risk that all studios other than at SSR, OKW and AKV will be gone before 7 months out, and even AKV and OKW are likely to be gone the Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving week. In other words, it would be wise to rerserve your home resort 11 months out and then try to switch at 7 if you want to assure getting a room.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, we're planning to do Wed-Sun, so that the kids only miss a 1/2 day of school--they'll be in 6th and 10th grade that year. OKW is our home and it's normally still available at 7 mths which is why I usually wait until then to see what else is free. I'll definitely think about booking OKW earlier and trying to switch at 7 mths--I'd love to be at a resort with indoor hallways--so that we're not several buildings/bus stops apart like we could be at SSR or OKW.
