We are looking at a trip in June to celebrate my DD's college graduation and a last family vacation before she heads to med school.....so, I would like to book 2 rooms at Pop (2/3) and add the deluxe dining plan to the room with 2 people and then share it among the 5 of us.

Do I need to book the rooms separately--on separate reservations? We haven't been to WDW for a few years and had free dining the last time, but I believe it used to be that everyone on your reservation had to be on the same plan. So, even though I have two rooms do they have to be under separate reservations numbers so that aren't all on the dining plan?

I suspect that booking the 2 rooms under 2 separate ressies would give you what you want but have never done it so will wait for other responses that will enlighten:).

Booking two rooms will always result in two separate reservations. Disney's system does not allow for multiple rooms on a single reservation number. So this won't be a problem at all. If you add the DxDP to the reservation with 2 people, only those individuals will have access to the credits, but they can use them for as many meals as they like.

They don’t care if you give away your dining points .. I have had leftover before and purchased meals for other guests as a gift and no one blinks a eye. I have even used my ddp to pay for meals for my parents at sit down places with no issue .

Yes, you will book the rooms separately and then simply add the DXDP to the room with 2 people. You can share the credits amongst the 5 of you, but only the two people on the room with the DXDP will have access to the plan (it will be accessed using their MB's).
