We've booked for july 15 staying in AoA. I know its ages away, but had to scratch the planning itch and started my notebook!

Insurance sorted, hire car booked with insurance and tickets sorted.

Any other advice?

Also, I have fully inclusive insurance for my hire car, will there be any hidden charges to factor in on top?

very very excited but slightly terrified about the cost when its all written down and added up together! eek!!

Yippee! it will soon come around. We are visiting AoA in October, our first on site visit :cool1:

Not long till october! Hope you have a lovely time. What kind of room are you staying in? We are in a little mermaid room as there is only 3 of us.

Who have you booked your car with? UK agents who sell fully inclusive insurance should cover everything you need. Although that doesn't always stop them trying to upsell or add extra at the desk. Just say no to everything on arrival.

Thomas cook:) I asked how much it was to hire a sat nav- it's £90!!! £35 to put the map onto mine.

I'm quite good at sticking to my guns with upselling. I'm looking forward to having a go at driving over there.

Have you rung them and paid extra for fully inclusive, just did a dummy booking and it wasn't an online option (although I only looked quickly) online bookings usually only give basic cover which isn't enough.
This is what it gave me when I clicked on car hire:
Car hire
Car hire is included in your total price. Please note that car hire only includes basic third party insurance cover. We strongly recommend that you take out full insurance to cover any potential damage to your hire car. Please contact us before you travel to upgrade your insurance.

If you have paid the extra then you are fully covered.

Sat nav, I bought one about 3 years ago in Walmart for £35, their website says from around £50 now but they are sometimes onoffer instore. http://www.walmart.com/search/searc...onstraint=0&search_query=tomtom&search_sort=4
Only searched Tomtom, other brands might be cheaper.

Other option is to watch ebay, people buy them in Walmart, use them 2 weeks then sell in UK, sometimes for a profit. They sell from around £30 or with quality/latest maps from around £50 http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=tomtom+us+maps&_sop=15

Did the extra cover in store, we booked it all instore and got the online price, so worked out quite well, we're all sorted now except for the estas.

So glad I found this board, its fantastic:) I think ill scout around online before we sort the sat nav maps, as with everything, spend a little time, shop around & save!

Hi Minnimog - we are also staying in Little Mermaid Room and have booked with TC too. Would love one of the suites but the price is extortionate, maybe we will get lucky and get a free upgrade ;) can't help you about your car questions as we have decided to not have the car this time and take the magical express and taxi it to universal/ioa.
