Booked River Ranch for Father's Day (updated w/pics)

We stayed in the house's last year and they were very nice, the only thing nothing was open until the weekend. We had to travel 38+ miles to Lake Worth to get food.So go prepared. Also the manager was not very nice. All I can say it sure ain't Disney,we have been spoiled by Disney

We stayed there years ago - circa early 80's. You think there's nothing there now??

Back then, they had a rodeo on Saturday night & a "real western" saloon. Both were fun, but not fun enough to go there a second time. It took as long or longer to get to River Ranch as it did to go to FtW. Guess where we always end up after all these years?

In the old days you had the Rodeo, the Saloon, you could shoot Trap and Skeet, Archery, etc...I have no idea if any of that stuff is still there or not but like Deb said, by the time you drive west it ends up being just as far as Disney for us too.

we stayed there a couple weeks ago. went there as a kid. saloon is still there, rodeo is still on saturdays. they have a mini main street which has a little grocery store, arcade, western store and minature golf. the skeet and trap is there they have a golf course. and minature golf course. they do hay rides and hoe down on fridays and saturdays. area three is very shady. we were on site 295 or 298. we enjoyed it thoroughly. the grocery store sells pizza. the saloon on fridays lets kids in till1030, and 8 on saturdays. they do a campfire on saturday night for the kids after the rodeo. if you have ever been to a good rodeo this is not it. it is very entertaining but does not have all the events. there forte is bullriding. the kids loved it though. they had steer wrestling for the kids from the audience which my kids loved. d2 is 5 and dd is 14. they loved it. golf carts are 60 bucks for 48 hours. we had a ball we went in from friday at about 3pm till sunday at 5. they have a late checkout. lake wales is the closest city. and if you want to venture out go to chalet suzanne for sunday breakfast. they usually do a nice one for fathers day. we loved it and would go back again but you have to make sure you hit it on the weekend if you are going for outside entertainment. there is a resort and a rv resort. the rv resort is where people live and re rent out their sites. they all usually have a nice deck and campfire ring. the resort is typically where you buy all you tickets for the hayride and barbque, which is 15 dollars for dinner, hayride and square dance. the golf shop is also the range master. the skeet shoot is pretty good. we did not golf but drove some golf balls with the kids on the driving range. we had fun but i hear the weekdays there is nothing to do. if you are in a rush for dinner. the pizza at the grocery store was pretty good. i was skeptic because it is all premade stuff but was shocked by how good it was. i hope you have fun. we also met a couple people there that have lots. they were very friendly and welcomed us in. have fun

Thank you for the information. Sounds like it will be an eventful Saturday!

That place looks pretty nice. I like the landscaping and shade around the sites. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like you had a good time - and that's all that matters! As I previously stated, we were there in the early 80's when the shrubs were newly planted and the buildings were pretty new. Now almost 30 years later, it looks better now than it did then. Sometimes age improves things! :thumbsup2

Thanks for posting the pics!

Looks like a great place and a fun trip. On our last outing with the trailer, everyone started talking about when we will get back to Disney. I smell another trip in the near future.

I hear September is a wonderful time to visit the Fort.

The landscaping looks so lush and gorgeous. Glad you had a good time (even with the cons...oh, that didn't sound right...).

And as soon as you start talking about the Fort/Disney trip...it's destined to happen!
