Booked POFQ but reconsidering...

I’m currently booked at POFQ but DD15 and I are still uncertain and may switch to POR. Having not stayed at either resort, it is difficult to choose. POR looks so beautiful...we actually love love love the theming!! And as much as the size and transportation convenience of POFQ screams “Stay here!” the theming is almost...a turn-off (???) Weird but true. Yet, POR seems so huge! We take midday breaks every day so we take advantage of the pool/food court daily which could equal lots of walking at POR.

I’m booked through an agency of which I cannot name and their deal is for standard rooms only. There are only 3-4 standard rooms in all of Alligator Bayou, the rest are in the mansions. But we want to stay in AB. What are the odds of being put in a garden view in AB if we indicate an AB preference in our requests? And how far is too far before we hear ourselves saying “we should’ve stuck with POFQ”?

EDITED: I have since learned that there are more than 100 AB standard rooms to choose from, which makes my decision easier? harder? :confused3

One more thing, DD is a vegetarian and neither of us like fish. So will the QS dining at POFQ be even adequate? I hear POR has much better QS menus, in addition to the TS restaurant. Lack of TS at POFQ doesn’t bother us, but two weeks is a long time to be without a decent resort lunch. Maybe this is not even something to consider? I’m just going by what I’ve seen on YouTube recently re POFQ QS choices.

I would love recommendations from those of you who’ve been to both. Why do some of you say POFQ is your all-time favourite while other say POR? POFQ vs POR...the struggle is real, very real. :thanks:

Probably not good, since AB is usually occupied with parties of 5, and GV is a separate booking. Honestly, I would keep the reservations at POFQ, and there's nothing stopping you from having lunch at POR.

I think this is enough of a reason to choose POR. I don't think the QS dining options at FQ will be adequate for your needs.

POR is our home resort. It is truly beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful with lots to do. The size never bothered us, and the buses have been fine.

My vote is POFQ. You get the convenience of the small size with POR literally a less than 10 minute walk away for a stroll or when you need to mix up your dining. I’m not a huge fan of the Mardi Gras part of the POFQ theming, but that’s just the main building really. The rest is quite peaceful, just in a slightly different way than POR. And when you take your midday breaks you could also just hop on the POR bus and head there to get the feel of how the busing and walks would be, then stroll back over to POFQ. I’ve never been one to eat anything but breakfast at the resort, so I can’t speak to the lunch menu at either. All that said, you can’t go wrong whichever way you go

There are 120 Standard Rooms in the Alligator Bayou section.

Thanks for clearing that up! I must've entered something other than JUST standard room when I was looking through Touring Plans' room finder. Thought it was a little strange, well actually, a LOT strange. While I've got you here @dansdad, any standard rooms particularly nice to you?

That tool can extremely inaccurate when it comes to room types and room amenities.

We usually request corner room and 2nd floor.

We love the grounds of POR. Love the quiet pools. And of all the resorts we have stayed at ( BCV,WLV,GF,BLT,AKL) POR has the best QS food court. If you want to save money and not do too many TS then it’s a great option. The make your own pasta section is so good and the portions are large. If you are vegan (depending on type) pasta section is perfect. You can pick type of sauce and add veggies and they cook it for you.

The last time we stayed there was about 4 years ago, not sure if anything has changed since then.

There are some buildings that do not have elevators, but I do not think they have more than two floors.

We ve stayed at both many many times. POR would likely be better for your food needs. The Only way we stay there is to be in a Preferred room which is then
AB (usually 14, 18 tho there are others. )
They are very close to main area and perfect location.
We don’t like being on the far side of AB or mansions as it is just way too far to take that “quick walk” to grab a dessert/drink/use south bus depot etc.

they are both wonderful resorts but POR has better theming, better QS, has restaurant, has Quiet pools ( and the main pool at POFQ is better geared for little ones imho)
We choose both for different reasons/visits, but prefer POR preferred.
You ll enjoy either.
