Booked our very first DVC vacation :)

We bought 60 points in Feb and it came with 2011's points. We weren't planning on going to WDW till 2013 though because we have a free trip to DL in Sept/oct (I am a One More Disney Day winner)

So we have 60 points that will expire on March 31st.

We first decided to maybe stay one night at hilton head this summer

then decided to rent the points

now we've decided to go down in December for a sat & sunday night stay. The kids would miss one day of school, DH will use 1 vacation day We are planning on not buying park tickets - instead spend time at resorts/down town disney....do the deluxe dining plan (do lots of eating) AND get tickets to the MVMCP for that Sunday night.

So I booked us in a 1bdrm at AKVL - Jambo house with savanna view SUPER EXCITED!!!!!!!

Now to decide where to eat!

You mentioned not purchasing park tickets, but I believe you have to have a park ticket + you MVMCP ticket to attend the party. Double check but I'm sure we needed a general park ticket plus the MVMCP ticket when we attended in 2010.

Actually, that's not the case. The party starts at 7pm and your ticket for the event will allow you access to Magic Kingdom starting at 4pm.

Congrats on winning the contest! Your plan sounds like a great way to enjoy Disney and get into the parks without having to buy park tickets. One other thing to consider is that you can buy Annual Passes using your DVC discount and still have them for your trip in 2013. Also, I'm not sure how the contest works, but if they give you the tickets you should ask if you can hold onto them and whether or not they expire if you don't use them right away. In that case you could use your Annual Pass for the Sept/Oct trip, your Dec trip and your 2013 trip and still possibly have your contest tickets for a future trip. It's worth asking! Good luck.

since we have chosen DL for our prize trip that scenario won't work

We are planning our next "full trips" to WDW in dec 2013 and again in sept 2014...so we plan on using our dvc discount for an annual pass to cover both of those trips

Nope we just have to get the MVMCP tickets - we just can't get in until 4pm
