I booked our first Disney Cruise ever a couple of days ago and I have soooo many questions. I knew absolutely no one would know more than the "Veterans" here on the DIS so pleeeeeeease help me!!! I've already learned so much just by reading the posts here on the Disney Cruise Line board but one I haven't seen discussed is the one I have, so here goes!!! If a discount, lower price, promotion, etc. comes out now that I've already booked can I apply it to my reservation?? I know that you can at the Disney Resorts because I do it all the time but I had no idea about the DCL. Any info at all would be so appreciated.

Thanks!!!
Carla

In general, yes. Depending on who you're booked with and who the discount promotion is through. Discounts and credits that are sponsored by Disney can not be "stacked" or added together. Usually you'll get whichever is greater. However, discounts on prices can be applied if you're with an outside TA.

Give us a few details, who you're booked with and I'm sure you'll get lots of info.

However if it includes a stateroom credit you can only have one credit per stateroom. If the price goes down though any good agent will do their best to get you a refund.
Any other questions feel free to ask.

Thank you so much for the replies!!! I booked directly with Disney because of 2 reasons. The first believe it or not was because they had the best price and the second reason was they were the only one who had a Category 10 stateroom on Deck 7. The other three agencies I tried only had Category 10 rooms on Deck 2. After reading everything I can find, a room on Deck 7 would be the better than one on Deck 2. Please tell me I won't regret booking with them!!!

Thanks Again!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

As a matter of fact it's a very good thing you booked with them. Since they are the originators of the cruise they allow you to move your reservation to any other TA with no problem at all. If you want a better price, check out other TA's. I'd recommend either DreamsUnlimited, (they control these boards) or AllSeasons www.allseastravel.com . Both offer you stateroom credits and rebates for using them. I'd contact both and ask for their price including any rebates and stateroom credits they are offering. If it's a savings then ask them to have your ressie moved to them. Be careful of your selection, switching back to DCL could be hard if not impossible and switching to another TA who has a better deal is impossible...Mark

I would second the idea that switching to a TA at this point could save you even more money. I have also heard that AAA is offering some great credits if you want to go with someone more "local" to you but you would have to be willing to give up "control" of your ressie. But then you have someone else who is looking out for you and will be on top of any promotions (it seems far less likely with the cruise line than with the resorts though so don't get your hopes up too high).

When are you sailing?

Any room on the ship is great but I agree that you'll have a great time on deck 7. There is a "not so secret deck" there that you can enjoy a more private view too.

I booked w/ All Seas (I know I got a great deal, I had researched it FOREVER! :-) ) but then cancelled and re-booked for a better deal w/ AAA (a DISer hooked me up w/ her group discount!)

So, just wanted to tell you I got full refund for the cancellation, and my travel insurance went with the new ressie. But, if you "cancel" too close to your trip date, you may be subject to penalty (I'm sure you have that info w/ your current ressie)

Good luck!    :earsboy: :earsboy:

P.S. check out the "Cruise Meets" link on the first page of the DCL forum. Chances are your fellow cruisers have a thread going (if not, start one for your sail date!!!) I'm having a blast planning my Nov 04 cruise w/ my cruisemates, and they've become a great resource for info and advice!:earsboy: :bounce:

:wave2: We are also going on our very first cruise vacation!:boat: We are going through DCL and we were told that if we called in and they have a cheaper rate that we would receive the cheaper rate however we must ask everytime what the rate is at that point and time. We have also been told that they don't advertise their deals so we have to call in about them. We are travelling with friends so we are taking turns every week calling in until our cruise date. Sounds crazy but if we can save somthing to help our with the exchange we are going to. Hope this helps. What date is your cruise? Pauline :chat:

Pauline,

We are sailing June 4. I got a quote yesterday from DU that is $665 less than what we currently have with DCL. I am waiting on a quote from All Seasons before I decide which one to move our reservation to. All Seasons was closed Sunday and Monday for the 4th so I should know something tomorrow. I'm moving my reservation to one of the two ASAP!!!

Thanks for all the great tips!

Lisa, I bought it already!!! As a matter of fact, I bought it a couple of weeks ago while we were at Disney World. I made up my mind while we were there that next year we were doing the Disney Cruise so we were at the Florida Mall one afternoon and I bought it. It is a great book!!! It's has all the info anyone could could ever want to know about the Disney Cruise Line in it. I'm constantly referring to it.
