Hi all,
Just wanted to share the vacations we have planned and what we were able to get.

Oct 2 AKV Jambo house 1 BR Savannah view
Oct 3-6th SSR Studio

Dec 16,17 Grand Californian 1 BR
Feb 12 - Feb 16 Grand Californian 1 BR

We are so excited. Luckily with my job I can pretty much take off whenever as long as I know ahead of time. I am loving my DVC!! :goodvibesJust in case you are wondering I have 316 points. I borrowed 30 points.

I do have a question. I borrowed points for the Dec 16-17th trip. I know for sure that we will be doing the trip Oct 2nd - 6th. Should I or can I put my borrowed points on that trip. Maybe it does not matter, just wondering if there is a better way to do it.
Thanks
Kyle

Kyle, congratulations on securing those accommodations! In my experience, GCV has been very difficult to get.

My wait list for THV in March came through a few days ago. My friend and I are taking the kids to WDW for Spring Break. We are very excited too!

About the points, I feel the same way too. If possible, I'd prefer to use the borrowed points for the trip that's sooner and that's for sure. If I remember right, member services wasn't able to swap the points between 2 reservations. They were only able to swap the points for me if the points are sitting in my account. For example, if you cancel Dec 16, 17, those borrowed points would be sitting in your account. Member services will be able to swap those borrowed points to the Oct reservation. However, if you cancel Dec 16, 17, do the swap, you probably will not get back the reservation for GCV. And let's say, by Sep 15, you decide you won't travel in Dec and cancel your reservation at that point, you won't want to swap the Oct reservation as it will be less than 31 days and the points swapping out of the Oct reservation will be in holding.

My UY is April and my home resort is SSR. I know the Feb trip is a little scary. Should I have borrowed points for that trip?

The best trip to use borrowed points is the trip you for sure won't cancel. If the chance of cancelling is the same, then using borrowed points for an earlier trip is better, because you have more time within the current UY to use the point in case you have to cancel.

So in your situation, the best trip to use the borrowed points would be Oct. And you are right, using the borrowed points for Feb is somewhat better than using them for Dec. In case you cancel your Dec trip early enough (before end of Nov), you can still bank the points.

But then again, like I mentioned earlier, I don't think you can swap points between reservations. You can call member services to confirm.
