Booked in room 1030 - anyone got opinions?

I booked a Cat 11 and got "upgraded" to a window cabin. Right next to the gang way (exit to land) on the 1st floor. Has anyone stayed on the 1st fl? How about near the gang way? I'm concerned about noise and engine heat. I assume this is over some of the mechanicals of the ship. I stayed on a Carnival years ago on the lowest customer level and the floor of the cabin actual was hot to the touch at night. Don't know if it was the engines, laundry, or what but it made for an uncomfortable cabin (85+ degrees overnight)

We stayed in 1072 last year- we liked the location actually. Instead of always having to take the elevator we just took the stairs up to Deck 3. I would stay on Deck 1 or 2 again.

I have stayed on Deck 1 two times 1044 and 1048...both times I had found the location very convenient. I am not too sure about the cabin next to the gangway, though (1030)....I would think that may get noisy due to the fact that alot of people leave the ship that way and would pass by your cabin.

Actually, 1030 and a few of them in that area are occupied for the next few months by DCL CM's....when we sailed 1/4 we saw the CM's coming and going from those rooms and asked about it. They said there were so many crew onboard recently that they assigned CM's returning from vacation to Cat 9 rooms on Deck 1 and 2 because the crew quarters were full. A big improvement over what the crew cabins are normally, from what I hear!!!

I guess they are clearing them out of the those cabins soon....when are you sailing?

Iam curious if you don't mind my asking......did they move you out of 1030 at your request, or did they realize they had CM's in there and moved you on their own????

I asked to be moved. I have a 3 and 5 year old. Between wanting to be near the 5th floor for the kid areas, noise concerns and my past experience on the 1st level (Carnival Destiny), I insisted.

Good for you...I don't think I would have wanted that cabin either...have a great cruise.

Oh....the 13th is a Thursday...so you must be on the Wonder....I know the CM's are on Deck 1 and 2 on the Magic...sorry gave you info for the wrong ship...but still do not like the location of 1030.
