I've always booked our next trips pretty far out...and in the past when I've booked into the next year before the rates come out I'm given the current year's rates, which are then adjusted when the real rates come out.

Today I called to reserve a room at the Contemporary from 1/30-2/7. This would be considered value season in 2008, and I would assume will remain part of value season in 2009. BUT, when booking today I was charged PEAK 2008 rates! :scared1:

I know that when 2009 rates come out, things should adjust, etc. to be the true price. But, I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this? I wonder if they're working to try and discourage us early bookers??

Me too! I booked for next January at the end February and was charged one night at 2008 peak rates. I was told that it will be changed once 2009 rates are released sometime in the summer. Didn't seem like a big deal to me. :)

Yes, that is what happened to me in Jan of this year for Jan of 2009. I had to reserved not 1 but 2 rooms at the YC with the deposits of 1 night for peak season :scared1: . I questioned it, paid it and then called back 2 more times that day to make sure it was correct.

Well, at least I'm not the only one!

The CM on the phone this morning did say that 2009 rates will be released in August.

I did the same thing. I booked for NEXT April - 2009. I was charged the highest rate :scared1: It was kind of freaky, but she told me they would adjust this summer. So that will be a nice deal when they are adjusted lower.

They would MUCH rather inform you that your package price has gone DOWN than to inform you that you'll be paying more than you expected.

This is Disney's way of saying.. whatever your rate for 2009 -- it shouldn't be much worse than *this*... :)

Yes this is how they do things for reservations into a year for which the official rates have not been determined.
