Booked DLH using points, now have a few questions...

We decided to stick closer to home and booked at DLH for 4 nights using DVC points. I booked standard view to save points, but now I have a few questions.

1. Can I / should I request a particular DLH tower? I have read to avoid the Bonita tower? Can I do this directly with DLH or DVC MS? Or can I even make any requests? MS didn't ask when I booked.

2. Do I have to pay the daily resort fee since I used points?

Can't help you with your first question - we didn't request a location last summer when we were there. I do believe we had something other than a standard view though. Concerning the resort fee, I seem to remember it was just included with our points reservation and we were not charged for the resort fee. I hope I'm remembering correctly!

You are remembering correctly no resort fee when using points. And we stayed in the Bonita Tower one time and LOVED it. It is a longer walk (but nothing is far away compared to WDW) and it is so nice. The waterfalls are beautiful.

Thanks! Does anyone know if I should request non-smoking at least through either MS or DLH? We are going at a slow time (early May) but I still want to make the request if I can. I think I'll call MS tomorrow and see if they can take any requests for non-smoking.

As a person who has asthma, I always request a NS room for medical reasons and do so with MS. We've only used our points once at DLR, last June at the GC standard view, and made the request thru MS. When we arrived, we received a NS HC room, but I opted not to accept it so that it could be available for someone who needed it...I don't require a HC room for the asthma. It ended up that we were upgraded to ??? room...we had a view of the monorail coming into the GC and an obscured view of DTD.

I'd make the request with MS.

I recently made reservations at PPH and GCH for Nov. 2007. The CM informed me that I did not need to make a non-smoking request as all 3 of the DLR hotels will be non-smoking by the time I arrive. Hope this is correct!

We stayed at DLH last March on points. We requested Bonita and were upgraded to pool view on check in. There was no extra resort fee charged.

The only problem with the bonita tower is that if you booked a standard then you may get stuck with a view of anaheim and the parking lot. I would request the Marina tower because it is the closest and if you have standard view you may have a view of the fireworks. We did and it was very nice. There are standard in the sierra tower also and they are usually on the bottom floors with a view of the palm trees right outside your window so you can't see much else. IMO it isn't bad either.
All the rooms at the resort are nonsmoking now so don't worry about that.

We were in the Bonita Tower last summer (not on points) and while I loved the location and the quiet lobby, we had a view of the parking lot and houses in the surrounding neighborhood. We were past the elevator bank and that was all we could see. It was really crummy. I think people on the other side of the elevators could see some of Cal. Adv. and the Paradise Pier Hotel, but I would be disappointed to be in our location again.
