I'm a newbie to posting but have been reading the boards here for days! Just booked our hotel today, using our credit card reward points, we'll be staying for FREE!!! :) Been to Disneyland several times, but this will be the first time staying in the DLH!

We booked a standard room - just wondering if there is a certain location I should request? Can you really ask for a free upgrade upon arrival? We'll be checking in in the evening in mid late June, not likely there will be too many upgrades left I'm sure.

Hooray!! I'm really excited for you!! We have really enjoyed our stays at the DLH and know you will, too!:cool1::thumbsup2

oh that is soo cool!!!! We are staying there also, this May. We booked two standards (there's 8 in our group) and requested the Dreams Tower north corner end facing DTD. You can request anything but just understand that they can't guarantee it. They put everyting in the notes and when you check in they will see if they can fill your needs. I'm soo looking forward to staying there. The last time I was there was 1979!!!! Have a blast and take some time to check out the grounds and memorabilia.

Yay!

We've got our first family trip to DL planned for next week (ack! so much to do!), and we are staying at DLH.

Hope you have a great trip!

Yes you can always ask for a free upgrade. Will you get it? Who knows?

We just got back home from a stay at he DLH and I'm already secretly planning a return visit (coming from Australia that's a failry big trip). ;)

Even though we spent so much time in the parks, at restaurants and walking around DTD, it was just so nice to come back "home" to the DLH ... I've never experienced that feeling about a hotel anywhere else in the world before.

You are going to have a great time too!

You will absolutely love it! I stayed there for the first time last summer and it was fantastic, mostly the location and wonderful view! We requested the Dreams tower DTD premium view, which means upper level (easier to view the fireworks from balcony! We did ask for upgrade, but did not get it! So,,,, you never know! We did end up on the very top floor overlooking DTD. I cannot say enough good things about the place, Everyone from room service to valet parking attendants were so very attentive to our needs. Loved it , have a great time! I masterminded a surprise trip for myself, DBF, DD2 and Dneice 10 in JUly. Hehe, wanted to try the GCH but since we are taking the kids we will do DLH again because I know they will loveee it!

Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes and input! I'll be celebrating my
40th while we're there so I know it will be fabulous! We went to WDW in 2005, but haven't been to DLR since 2001. I'm so excited I just can't stand it!

Trying not to be so ignorant, but what would you be upgrading to for free?

Jack

To a better view room? I read some posts where people said they asked upon check-in and were upgraded. I'm not sure I'm comfortable asking though, will likely get what I get! :)

BTW Jack, just noticed you're in SE Washington...as in WA State? I'm in Pullman, where are you?

I would ask, it never hurts. I am currently in Kennewick(Tri-Cities). I am curious what constitutes a better view at the DLH.

Jack

Ahhh, the Tri-Cities, been there! :)

Sounds to me like the standard view offers the parking lot or DTD. Not really thrilled about looking at the parking lot, but we were able to get the hotel stay for free with our credit card reward points so I won't complain. I also just read a trip report that said they werw able to se ethe fireworks from a standard view so that would be fun! Just happy to be going and staying the the DLH! :cheer2:
