Booked hotel tonight, staying at Fairfield Inn again, this will be 3rd time here (4th at Xmas), got it for £29/night incl tax, breakfast(I can taste the waffles now ) and wireless internet.

To be honest horror bores me, I just don't get it, its people dressed up. We went to Madame Tussauds in London the dungeon thing they have, DW and DS are screaming their heads off, I was stood there thinking why
maybe I am a little odd while we are talking about me being odd I also can't see 3D images, where people see things coming from the screen to me its just a flat screen, weird.

I wish I wasn't bothered but I just don't like being scared - It's not my thing at all! DS on the other hand loves all that horror stuff in the same way he likes extreme thrill rides. I'm thinking we'll take a cab to the event, I'll sit at the bar in Margaritaville and he can enjoy the screams and whatnot till I'm asked to leave...

my daughter's going in september....she got a flight from TA to New York City then continuing to Orlando (she stops in NY on the incoming leg)....the flight is $1501 including the stop in new york....that's really very cheap (a few years ago, that was really very expensive, but times have changed)...
and i just got an email from the airline saying they're raising all prices on july 14 by 5% due to fuel price increases...
but if we buy the ticket before the 14th, we won't have to pay the additional 5%....and since we have to cut the ticket anyway by the end of this month, we may as well save the 5%....so i'll have the travel agent buy it today...

her rate at the pop century is $1450 for both her and her friend together, for 14 days, including free dining....so that seems pretty good....

and she already has an AP, so the only ticket she'll need is for universal (which she hates, but she's toughing it out for her friend)...

so it will be about $1500/pp for two weeks, including food....($1500/pp for air/hotel/food/ticket)
that's pretty good....
and she won't be renting a car - just depending on disney transportation (except to get to universal)...

of course, she'll probably spend at least that much on 'souvenirs'....

Glad none of us like shopping although we have a new baby girl in the family, DW is looking after her 2 days a week after Sept(Mum, DW's cousin is a teacher) so no doubt we will be buying for her.

But opened our curtains to a veiw of Times Sq and Empire state building, it was like living in a movie. Walking thru Central park DS was asked if he wanted to be in a TV show, he was about 8y.o and turned them down, he would probably do it now. What a city!

But opened our curtains to a veiw of Times Sq and Empire state building, it was like living in a movie. Walking thru Central park DS was asked if he wanted to be in a TV show, he was about 8y.o and turned them down, he would probably do it now. What a city!

for now she has reservations at the Hosteling International hostel on the upper west side....$45/bed in a dorm....even in the hostel, a private room is $135/ night.....and that's without bath or toilet - you have to go down the hall to the shared bathroom...for $135/night.....on 103rd st!!!!
so she's going to do the dorm (even though she hates hostel dorms)...

i'm trying to get her one of the less expensive mid-town hotels, but they're all booked up......i have a feeling a lot of europeans are going to be traveling to the US this summer....with the dollar in a freefall, everything is relatively cheap to the rest of the world...
it's certainly a lot cheaper to travel in the US (other than NYC) than in europe....

We always go at Easter. Weather is generally good, we find. It does get very busy but if you hit the parks early and use fastpasses etc, it's manageable.

Easter is very busy,weather is FANTASTIC.We choose Easter for this reason.We have been in Aug and never again.Incredible heat+humitdity,heavy rain+thunderstorms,still crowds.As long as you get there for rope drop,use fastpass-you will do fine.Alot of people on here choose busy Easter over the main school holidays.We get more done by going Easter,than the main holidays.x.

We did Amsterdam earlier this year and I know exactly where you're coming from, I dread to think how much it cost us in total (my dad paid) We didn't do anything particularly expensive but the poor exchange rate makes it much less cost effective than visiting the US.

i was just in amsterdam in june - just changing planes, but i had a 12 hour layover....the prices were astronomical.......
i wonder how many americans aren't traveling overseas this year because of the sorry state of the dollar...

Where Michelle thinks weather is fantastic we dont, it all depends what you like. Pic below from this Easter. 1st few days we had to wear fleeces and long trousers, after that it was nice but much prefer August weather, hotter the better for us.
Last Easter was worse 1st week was cold and windy 2nd week was nice.
Both this Easter and last we flew Easter Saturday.

We have been to Amsterdam about 10 times in past 3-4 years, usually get flights for about £35-50 each and a 4-5* hotel under £100/night. This year flights were around £80-100 each and hotels about £150/night. So instead of a 2 night break costing £300 it would have been around £600, plus the cost of food and drink has gone up 3 years ago it worked out about £2 for a pint of Heineken, last year gone upto about £3.50, a mixture of changing to Euros, exchange rates and inflation.
This year £600 is better converted into $'s than another Amsterdam trip, although we have missed not got going.

Where Michelle thinks weather is fantastic we dont, it all depends what you like.

Sorry i should have made myself clearer-for us the weather at Easter time is fantastic-no intense humidity,hot(to us)we still walk around in shorts/capri's + t-shirts.If you can't handle the intense heat+humidity then this would be a perfect time for you to go.If heat+i mean heat,is great for you+you can handle it,like alot of people can-then you would be better to go then.
I find that people who adore the heat,like my Nan-find it chilly in Easter time,when it is perfect for me+my family.Hope i have explained it better.x.
